But fortunately Midnight Lady does.
The first pic is the dining room of our house when we first shopped for it (yuk sterile) . The second is her treatment (not quite complete) of it.
She paints and I practice guitar. :banana:banana:banana:banana
Thanks ML :bow

What? No window treatments? Or are you sewing those as we speak?
Much better BTW. I hate to paint as well, but my wife is the worst painter I have ever seen. I fully suspect it is a clever ploy on her part to make me do the job.

Very nice.
But here, we both hate to paint. Or do any decorating at all. So, our house just has that "rustic" look about it. (And different color carpet in every room. I think we WILL get around to working on that part, anyway. If we wind up staying here.)

I love to paint. Ever since I got my new Iwata LPH300 I'm really loving life. This baby sprays "fog" that just sets down on my guitars like a dream.

I HATE painting, not dislike, but hate! My wife loves to paint (or at least loves a freshly painted room, and does a fine job), and she wants to change colors all the time (every year or two). She thinks I should also like to do that. After 15 years, I still haven't convinced her I don't. I liked the interior before she did anything, and I like it better after she did, and I see no reason to change it anymore, ever LOL

Dining room is too small for music stuff - and anyway - do you really play in the dining room? Instead there is a "music corner" in the living room (photo below) and a windowless music room on the lower level (still under renovation).

Yep still in progress. One of the things that floored us was that the "before" pic was the way the previous owners had it after living there 4 years!

Sorry. I have a thing about "window treatments" thanks to my Mom.
Used to be called curtains I think. I suspect that the previous tenants never ate dinner in there. Your color choice is great by the way. Very similar to our hallway under the chair rail. We have an 80s house that we are making into a mission style with paint and fixtures.

Sorry. I have a thing about "window treatments" thanks to my Mom.Hmmm... ok. What would you do with that window? It's big and faces south - so a ton of light pours in there. I love light so I'd hate to cover it up too much. The blinds were closed to enable the taking of photos -but otherwise they are wide open all day. The window is at the front of the house.

Actually in fact the previous owners did eat in there all of the time. :huh

I'm Jekyll and Hyde when it comes to painting. I LOVE to paint anything involving latex. I DETEST painting baseboards, doors, and caulking. Basically anything that requires oil based paint.
I wear the decorator hat in my house. My wife is indifferent. She approves my choices, but has very little vision for a room, and terrible matching ability.

TGP Answer: Well y'know it'd be a lot easier to play if you just move that big flat wooden thingie outa the middle there, and maybe use that big wooden box there at the end to put some speakers in...
...and a windowless music room on the lower level (still under renovation).
Now this is good...you need a place with some privacy to practice up on guitar faces.
Actually the color is terrific, and it doesn't hurt that it's a wonderful little space as it is, esp the window. Makes all that wonderful sunlight easy on the eyes. Always like to use oval tables in dining areas like that--traffic flows so much more freely, and it's more visually comfortable as well. The tablecloth does a terrific job of expanding the scale of the room--nice and airy, great job of employing the space. I do miss the little Indiana Cabinet lookin' guy that was in there tho...did you keep it?
Oh yeah, the blonde switchplate by the guitars...nice symmetry there, but I was kinda thinkin' maybe cherry sunburst bookmatched flame maple, triple-bound f-holes...

A scalloped (cutouts to match the hutch arches) cornice above it , with the top
slightly above the window edge & bottom a little higher than the hutch arches . .

Wow, I love that someone knows about this stuff!!

Thanks for all the compliments! (strutting around making dinner now)

Wood . Fabric gets dusty , I don't care whose it is . ;)
Stained slightly darker than the hutch and semigloss poly would get my vote .
It would still let in light but break up the top "glare" and the "square hole in the wall" effect .

Not to hijack the thread but... I like the tortoiseshell guard on that Tele. I got one for my similarly-colored burst MexiTele and it was brighter red than I expected. I didn't like the look at all. Maybe I should try it again.

My daughter and I would like to paint our dining room the same color, especially as we just got new crown molding on Tuesday but Jackie put the kibosh on it. She says it's "too dark with all the dark cherry furniture." So we're looking now at something called Monticello Rose by Benjamin Moore Paints. I'd like it better if I weren't stuck with the hetero gene.

Nice paint job, guys. I never minded painting (did a bedroom and entire downstairs last Spring), but I detest the prep work...taping stuff off, covering stuff, filling in nail holes.

He does the prep work (lucky for him the walls were perfect and only needed to be washed - also I prefer to edge without tape) and the clean-up --- which I really don't like. And I paint.
