I had a Toucan that an uncle smuggled into the country. It got taken away after a nosy neighbor hag snitched on me. I'd love to have another one.

I'd like a pet skunk. I hear they are very cat like, and if you get them de-scented they make great pets. I believe it is illegal here in CA, but some states it is not.

I know a guy that has 5 skunks, they seem to be "ok" as pets, I wouldn't want one though. I'm not really in favor of keeping undomesticated animals as pets.

That Jagurundi looks a tad tough. I'd be worried I might wake up some morning to find it feasting on the flesh of my thigh, since it had already consumed all other neighborhood pets. Handsome creature though...

But if they are raised in captivity from birth don't they automatically become domesticated. Or are you talking about skunks in general?

Not in the least. You're confusing taming with domesticating. Taming can be done on an animal to animal basis, but domestication happens species-wide.

Got it. Kind of like the tigers that are raised in captivity. Still not domesticated & problems can arise.
Oh well, I'll stick with my cats.

exactly. I hate when we rehab a dolphin and then it is deemed non-releasable and ends up living in captivity for the rest of it's life. They seem to do well, but there's no way they can be as "happy" as they would be out in the ocean.

Monkey and a raccoon.... I think they are so cute!
Never a monkey IMO...They carry too many diseases.
I have seen some skunks de-scented as pets.
Unusual and semeed very tame.
Large cats.........I don't know....seem dangerous.(birds are carriers as well)
Any reptile is the same as monkeys. they can be disease carriers.
If I had to choose one....I am not sure, I would need to do some research.
Wild animals have alot of issues trying to keep them domesticated.
Violence and disease wise.
My buddy Tank is close enough to exotic and he is a handfull.
This is a pic as a pup.

My dad said when he was a little kid he had a monkey. They lived in Colorado and my grandfather took care of the Taylor Dam.
He said my grandfather used to take it into town and let it fight the drunks for money. Said it used to kick some serious arse....
But one day it grabbed my grandmothers hair and slammed her head against the cage.
So she shot it!

A Bengal tiger. The only problem is I'd probably try to get too friendly with him, and one day when he was in a bad mood he would eat me, and that would be the end of that story.

I used to breed mountain chameleons. The various species all have horns and frills and other ornamentation. Not much else has as bizarre a variety of specialized anatomy. This is a four horned chameleon.

Assuming we're living in fantasy land, I always wanted a pet monkey because drummers are just too unreliable.

We have some of these guys living somewhere on or very near our property. They come up to the basement door late nights when I am down here watching TV. They've never been a pest to us, yet. There was a very young one just the other night. Of course, I don't ever try to corner them. The fellow in this pic seems like he's backed into a corner, or at least feels threatened. Don't threaten the opossum.

Maine Coons rock...
Pretty kitty. My aunt and uncle have two cats that are half Maine Coons and my old neighborhad two full-bred ones. They used to follow her around outside like a dog at heel. I'd love to have a 30 pound cat to play around with and it'd be an instant conversation piece. I also don't have to worry so much about them wanting me dead like a lynx or bobcat.

Rascal's tiny for a Maine Coon at only 11 Lbs.
The females don't get as big, although I know someone who has a 20 pound one.
Her fur looks pretty nasty because the vet had to shave out a bunch of mats.
Whoever had her before me didn't comb her out like they should have.
Bubba, my last cat before Rascal looked almost the same except he was 25 Lbs...
You can tell how big he was in this picture.
http://www.sonic.net/%7Eclaudel/Bubba03.jpg
He died a few weeks ago from enlarged heart, which Maine Coons are genetically susceptible to. He was a great cat.
They definitely have their own unique dispositions.
I'd love to get another big one.
I got both of them from my local shelter.
