Somehow, I have amassed 36 free CDs on my BMG account. It would cost $108.00 in shipping to get them. I would like to just close the account stop having to respond to the featured selection every month, but I can't decide if I want to spend that 108 or just close the account and lose the CDs. I'm not even sure they have 36 CDs that I want. :(

That is alot of money for shipping..I may go for it though because 3.00 a CD is a good deal.

If you use them as Christmas gifts, you don't have to like them.

That's cool, if you can find 36 CDs you like on BMG.:phones

I didn't think people bought cd's anymore.

If you'd have bought 36 CD's from say Amazon, or CD Baby they'd cost you $10 ea. or roughly $360 depending on shipping. It's easy math in the right context, but yes you'd have to find 36 good CD's on BMG. Good luck -

I could, but i don't. :phones I don't think the sound quality is as good. I could be wrong, but I'm convinced that i hear a difference.

Sure, I'm going to cancel either way, just trying to make up my mind if i'm going to leave the CDs when i go, i guess.

I've got BMG and have never responded to their mailings...it goes straight to my spambox. Don't think I remember a password to log on any more. I'm just hoping their e-mails eventually stop.

Don't they keep sending you monthly selections and bill you for them if you don't reply?

nope...I get e-mails and never even look at them. It used to be a Columbia House account that worked like that but they switched to a system that I didn't have to respond to...then they turned into BMG. I bought often when it was columbia house but don't think I ever ordered from BMG...but I still get their mailings....

I know the sound quality isn't as good. I downloaded Jackson Brown's "Running On Empty", which I am very familiar with, from iTunes, because I did not have a digitized version of it. I've had the song on cassette for the last million years or so. I know this song cold, inside and out. The original recording is a testament to audio excellence. The mp3 version of it was a major disappointment.

Modern music is mixed so hot, smashed to **** and back, that the quality of mp3 is not as important, IMHO. It is like listening to commercials on television.

Buying music on iTunes isn't stealing. These days I buy music for the music, not the sound. I don't even have a proper stereo and don't want one. The sound of digital downloads isn't as good as CDs, but there was a time in my life that I listened to 78s and music on am radio, so it's all relative. I'll take the cost savings and the convenience of digital all day long.

I like the 36 Christmas presents for $108 myself. That way, you can get multiple copies of various CDs to give to folks, and if you don't need 108 presents, you can give a small collection of your favorite CDs to each person.

I built quite a jazz collection with BMG. It's really not a bad deal. If I can't find something I want there I go to Amazon, Bluebeat, or Pacific Blues.

Thanks for infering that I steal music.

I buy my music from itunes. I don't have to leave the comfort of my home or all that BMG junk mailings. I can just buy the songs I want for .99 cents each or the whole cd if I want. On my ipod touch the quality sounds fantastic to me and I don't have a million cd cases everywhere.

Agreed. Besides, if all that mattered was sound quality, people would be listening to vinyl through the latest audiophile geek system.

It truly is all relative.

Well, I just downloaded another LP from itunes. And I paid for it too!

After the second time that I returned my "monthly selection" to them C.O.D. (I just wrote "RTS" on it without opening it and dropped it back in the mail) they quit sending them to me. I haven't had to reply or send one back for years now.

BMG isn't a bad deal really. No matter what special they are offering in any particular month, when you factor in shipping and such it always averages out to around $9 a CD - which isn't so bad for a new CD these days. And occasionally you can get some good clearance deals or bonus offers.

how about asking what everyone would want, we send you the shipping for them and you are done with it?

Hey Bones, I downloaded another cd and a movie from itunes last night and paid for it. I'm still not stealing! You inferred I was and never responded back in your own thread.
