I'm going to see them next Monday at San Diego Symphony Hall and just found out they are playing "The Wall" in its entirety! Anyone seen the show yet? Based on the Youtube clips I can't wait!

Saw them in NYC on October 11th and they were very good. Like Floyd's live Wall show, they included the extended Another Brick Pt. 2 and Mother solos, What Shall We Do Now?, The Last Few Bricks and the extra verse in The Show Must Go On, and they also did Outside the Wall the way Floyd did it on the Wall tour. Encore was six songs.

Saw them in St. Louis last week. Very impressive. Sound is dead on. My only complaint is paying $50 for what is essentially a cover band, but they are still awesome.

Well, considering the production they put on and the number of members needed on stage to fully re-create everything, I'd say it's well worth it.

Not to change the topic, but has anyone seen "The Machine"? They're playing here on Nov. 29th, and I'm tempted to go...

If you've seen this Think Floyd live, you wouldn't use the term "damn good show"!!!

BTW, I saw the Aussie Pink Floyd a while back on PBS and thought they were very good. It wasn't exactly note for note and the vocals were different, but a great show none the less.

Go! I saw them here in Germany a couple of years ago and was quite impressed. Just four guys, so it's a very compact (but hard rocking) version of our favorite Pink Floyd tunes.

Thanks....you sold me!
For any other interested DC/NOVA folks, The Machine is playing at the State Theater in Falls Church on the 29th...I'll be there! :AOK

My trip report from their NYC show:

Aussie Floyd put on an awesome show that was essentially a recreation of the 1980 Earl’s Court concert. They didn’t have the giant Styrofoam wall and elaborate staging, but the performance was pretty close to flawless and their visual FX and animation were incredible as always. If I had to nitpick I guess I would say the energy level of the band wasn’t quite what it was last time they came through NYC with their DSOTM show. Maybe the constantly evolving personnel lineup (see below) has something to do with that. Still, it was a real treat for Floyd fans, definitely worth seeing. Ian Cattell, the touring bass player/singer, did an especially nice job recreating Roger Waters’ “Pink” persona onstage, including the lounge chair/TV scenes, the Nazi costume change, and the spiteful stage banter (“Are there any weak people in the audience? I said are there any weak people in the audience? Well this one’s for you. It’s called ‘Run Like Hell.’ ”).

One interesting change from their last tour is their new 2nd guitar player, Bobby Harrison, who I guess is just a temporary sub for Jamie Humphries. (Damian Darlington is still the 1st guitarist and voice of Gilmour. And I see the website still lists Steve Mac and Jamie Humphries as part of the rotating guitar lineup. How crazy is it that this band is such an institution that they have different lineups depending on where they’re touring?) Anyway, with his Goo Goo Dolls haircut, Bobby looks a tad out of place relative to the rest of the no-image band. But the guy can seriously play, and if you’ve ever studied Gilmour’s playing you would appreciate how he’s gone the extra mile in terms of gear and phrasing to capture the nuances. He certainly gets closer to Gilmour’s sound than Darlington or Humphries, although you have to give Darlington credit for covering guitar and vocal duties so well. Humphries strikes me as a great player who has trouble toning down the shred and who doesn’t really try to cop the Gilmour touch.

Cliff notes: Great show, I highly recommend seeing them if they come through your area. This Harrison guy is a great sub.

I would love to see that show-The Wall in its entirety would be an awesome thing to see-I missed going in 1980 at Nassau Coliseum so this would be the next best thing. Thankfully, I saw PF 4 times between 1988 and 1994. I have seen The Machine twice and will be seeing them again on 11/28. Last time I saw them in 2005, they did Animals in its entirety for the 2nd set-absolutely incredible. My favorite Floyd album and it was dead on.

Man, this talk has gotten me salivating! I'd love to be in a Floyd tribute band (actually trying to get one together in DC, but apparently keyboard players are impossible to find!)...I know tribute bands sometimes get little love around here, but the only thing I can think of that is better than listening to Floyd would be playing it. Rock on, tribute bands!

Not to change the topic, but has anyone seen "The Machine"? They're playing here on Nov. 29th, and I'm tempted to go... Saw them twice a few years ago, they're a good show also. During one of those shows, they did a great Interstellar Overdrive-->Astronomy Domine medley. And oddly enough, the only thing I didn't like about them was their version of Welcome to the Machine :p

Agreed. I also think he sounds a lot like Waters on vocals.

I thought Harrison got a lot closer to Gilmour's sound then Darlington did.

What he said! Great show with lots of goose bump moments and even a tear or two during the encores which included just enough of DSOTM to satisfy the faithful.

And the show was well worth every penny. This ain't just a cover band by any means.
