Joe Meek VC3 Who knows what about this unit? Any particular applications?

Funny you should ask - just two days ago I was at a friend's studio who has one. I've never used that one myself, but in general Meek's products tend to be heavy handed, which can be a good thing if you dig that.
Put it this way: all compressors sound and behave differently, so if you get a good price nab it. It's probably going to be perfect for one particular thing eventually. Lots of guys have several racks of all different compressors for that reason. I'd rather have a dozen different compressors than a dozen different anything else. Not including guitars, of course.

I have a VC3Q that I got some good results with on male vocals and acoustic guitar on my band's album. It definitely has a coloration to its tone, but as MK said, having a sound is not always a bad thing :)

Well, my pal just gave it to me!!! It seems to be a pre-amp with comp and some sonic processor. Can't beat the price!!!
