I thought this might be interesting to share. My cousin owns and operates Stagg Street Studios in the LA area.
Yo, we're still here working, still occasionally having good people come in. Most of the time it's a grind, however.
We had Jeff Beck and his current trio of Vinny Colaiuda and Tal Wilkenfeld in May for 10 days. You can see this group on Youtube. I can say I am one of the only people who has heard Jeff Beck play Turkey in the Straw. When Jeff was warming up in the lobby, an ice cream truck drove by, and Jeff started playing along.
We had this incredible shredder guy named Paul Gilbert come in to record and also to do an educational video. Man, he was amazing, Išve never seen chops like that.
I thought it was funny that my cousin has never heard of Paul Gilbert when he's been in the studio business for 20+ years in LA and has played drums with folks like Dean Parks and has had Robben Ford in his studio 3 times. :phones
