Hey guys I am putting together a music room in my house and I'm wondering what is out there for multiple guitar stands.

I just want something that won't react with the guitar finish and won't scratch the guitar.

My wife would like something that looks a little like furniture.

Any suggestions?

Maybe one of those briefcase or guitar case things that opens up into a multiple guitar stand..?

It doesn't look like furniture, but my GF bought me one of these for Christmas a few years back:

At first, I thought it wasn't worth the money, but now I really love it. I leave a couple electrics on the stand all the time, within easy reach. It also does a good job of holding the guitars securely. There's NO fear of this thing tipping over.

I have a tweed 3-guitar briefcase stand that looks real nice.
Gator makes it, but it looks just like the same one made by Fender.
(I'd probably even sell it to you if you want. Feel free to PM me.)

I'm guessing you like them. Is the rubber non-reactive?

I've never had a problem with my "Rock Stand" guitar stands. The rubber doesn't cause any problems and there is enough room for my ES-175 to fit safely, along with 6 other solid bodies.

+1 on the Rock Stand for convenience. Plus you can fold it up for transport if needed. It doesn't look like house "furniture" though, it looks more like a studio accessory.:phones

I have seen all the ones mentioned, and I can't recall any guitar stand looking like furnature. I am picturing something in a honey oak or mahogany finish with padded upholstery for contact with the guitars. Sounds like a custom job for a woodworker, along the lines of those higher end wooden practice chairs or ornate wooden music stands.

Contact one of these guys and I'll bet they will do a multi.

Yeah they look great but them mention not using the rack for extended periods of time without the guitar case. I'm looking for something exactly like this where I can have the guitars out of thier cases.

Note of caution (perhaps!): I went through a similar quest, though I didn't care much about the "furniture" angle. The Rockstand, some people warned me, has nothing to stop the guitars from "twisting" into one another - bumping each other as you take them out or put them back in.

I went with one of the G&G "guitar cases" that opens into a 7-guitar stand. It has little "slots" for each guitar body to rest in, so they are protected from the twisting & bumping.

I never tried the Rockstand, so I can't vouch for the comments that guitars may bump, just a thought to consider.

I also have one of the wall hangers that holds 4 guitars. I think they look great hanging on the wall.

FYI, once the guitars are in the stand, it looks a lot better than the bare stand pics you are seeing here!

This is what I had when I had the space for an actual music room.

It was great.

+2. They're made for guitars so I've been assuming they are designed to not react with finishes. :dunno

Depending on the width of the body they may very well bump. I've addessed this issue with a mixture of being careful and not really caring that much. Most of what I keep in mine is inexpensive and already scarred.

FWIW - for most of the time I've had mine it was in a corner, with a wall at one end, and an equipment rack at the other. This allowed me to keep 7 instruments in a 5-instrument rack.

Forget the furniture look... go for what protects your guitar best. And imho, that's the Hercules stands. They make a three-guitar stand that's rock-stable and guitars basically can't fall out of it or even be bumped out, because they need to be lifted an inch or so for the locks to clear. I've had guitars damaged expensively from falling off of other stands. I will not buy anything but Hercules now, unless someone invents something even better.

!!! Long story short- the Hercules GS432B can tip over !!!

Short story long-
While I can't argue with anybody who hasn't had any problems with it, I must caution that the very first time I used it, it tipped over with my relatively new Anderson and my singer's Gibson ES-137 on it. If we weren't on a carpeted stage, I'd have cried. One of the positions is centered between two of the legs...if there aren't two guitars in the other positions, it can go over without any help from anything other than gravity. Maybe I got one that wasn't constructed right, but the pictures I see of others are exactly like it and there's no way to "rotate" the neck cradle and body rests so that they get more support from the legs.

Thats exactly why I don't like those 3 sided stands. I could tell from looking at it that if there is one guitar in the stand it needs to be in a certain place to not tip over.

I've had one of these for about two years. The foam/rubber does cause a reaction with nitro.

Call it "relic" and add $500 to the guitar's price. :AOK

Bought one of these here on TGP and used it a show this past weekend.

Works great and easy to cart around, set up and tear down.
