I posted this in another thread, but thought I would start a separate thread for those who might have missed it.

It's awesome hearing how he still sounds like himself on so many different instruments.

and lastly frisell on a guild acoustic:

god i had fun listening to these!

I once saw him do an entirely acoustic gig on a martin, no mic (it was in a small church) and he sounded just like frisell.

it was beautiful.

Cool thread idea, thanks!

I think it's the Sadowsky he played before the Klein.

Thats great Aram, I was actually at the show with the 446, in Argentina. Good show, great tone with that guitar and a couple of pedals through a hot rod deluxe.

..although I think Bela Fleck needs to cool it somewhat if that clip is anything to go by..

Yep, sure is.

Great clips too, thanks for that! I missed my chance at seeing him live with Greg L. a few years ago because I had to fly home due to illness... hopefully one of these days I'll get a chance to see him again.

The one unidentified guitar is a Klein

I was there too, as I happen to live in Buenos Aires. The guitar was a ES-446 as you said. It was like a hollow body LP, because the body is carved. Frisell changed all the hardware and electronics. He played through a Hot Rod Deluxe and a SF Super Reverb. The SR was slanted, facing him and opposing the audience.

Henry just shot you a PM. I'm actually playing tomorrow night at that same venue (La Trastienda) as the Frisell clip.

I had a beautiful blonde Es-446 for a few years. Had a unique tone, due to the construction and spruce top. It sounded mediocre unplugged and at low volumes, but cranked with a bit of overdrive, it was the shit. I sold it because I didn't love the neck and needed cash. I would love to pick up another one.

Loved Frisell's tone with it!
