Unlike the last couple of albums, this one really rocks. At least on the two sample tracks.
IMO this is the best stuff McCartney has done in decades.

P.S.
I gave this it's own thread to avoid the dispute in the other McCartney thread.

I have really dug the tracks I have heard. Seems that when he is "free" he makes some cool stuff, though I did enjoy a lot of the last album as well.

That's the thing, he seems rather conservative when recording under "Paul McCartney", but the Fireman is a whole new story!
Cool fact about this album, nothing was pre-planned.
They recorded One song per day for 13 days (blank slate every day) and that's what was put on the album!

I thought there was a bunch of good stuff on "Memory Almost Full", and I have been pretty down on McCartney's stuff the last few years. I was surprised by the lack of commentary on it here at TGP.

I thought it was a good album as well, but I thought the single was one of the weakest tune there. He did a one off show in Hollywood at Amoeba Records to promote it and there were thousands of people packed outside after the place filled up.

Dance Tonight? I LOVE that tune! Especially once you learn the story behind the tune, you start appreciating it's simplicity!

It's too long for it's simplicity. There is some interesting stuff going on in the background, but not much to make a big difference. It struck me as "All Together Now Pt. II", just not as clever. It also wasn't a great choice for a single. It's more of a "hidden gem" type of tune you discover as you listen to the album, not the first thing you put out - especially with the fanfare there was with the Starbucks Label release.

He HAD to release it as a single, it was Beatrice's favorite!

Uh......note to self: Stop taking career advice from my 1 year old. :huh
I guess that is sweet, but a different single might have created a bit more interest.
Whatever - I like the album and am looking forward to the Fireman one. I thought I heard there was another McCartney album due within the year as well. Busy guy!

Yeah, no kidding!
I think Paul is a place where he figures "I'm Paul McCartney. If an album flops, I'll just make another one" and no one is gonna stop him!
He isn't exactly hurting financially since the divorce, in the same position, I'd probably release the tune my daughter loved to dance to, rather than a tune 4 suits told me would sell.
