Pitts beat Cincy already [keep missing Thurs games.....no NFL network :FM]
Saints vs Green Bay in a must win for both, on MNF.
Injuries have destroyed the Saints this year. Players just on IR [only listing starters* or signif playing time]:
Mark Campell TE*
Martin Grammatica K*
Charles Grant DE*
Mike McKenzie CB*
Tracy Porter CB*
DeMario Pressley DT
Mark Simoneau LB
Olaniyi Sobomehin FB
Aaron Stecker RB
Brian Young DT*
We laugh at the Saints forum at "who's going on IR this week...." :(
Besides IR - Starters to miss considerable time [multiple games - most 4 games or more]:
Reggie Bush RB, Deuce McAllister RB, Marques Colston WR, Sedrick Ellis DT, Randall Gay CB, Aaron Glenn CB, Jonathon Goodwin C, Mike Karney FB, Jeremy Shockey TE, & Hollis Thomes DT.
Good grief.....so wonder we aren't 2-8. :dunno
Anyone elses team this banged up?!?

Ahhh... I was waitin for this thread.... Monday will be a great game. Great passing offense against a great passing defense. I think Green bay can pull out a narrow victory.....maybe.

I'm expecting a tight game. Should be a good one. :)
What's the jury in GB say on Rodgers so far?

This could be our last gasp for air. If the Bolts lose and Denver wins, it's time to think about next year.

If the cowgirls can not beat the 49s they need to let the cheerleaders play.

Redskins in a must win. Hopefully Seattle will roll over for them - they need it.

I did get to see the Cincy-Pittsburgh game, and the one thing that really stood out to me was the huge number of empty seats.

I don't know, it's possible that 8 wins might take the division. I only see two games on Denver's remaining schedule I feel semi-comfortable with them winning. The defense is that bad.

Well, I certainly couldn't speak for everyone but i'd say most here think he's doing much better than expected. I thought he would suck so he's proving me wrong. I'm pretty impressed with his coolness in the pocket, and the ability to make somthing happen on the run. He's got a pretty nice deep ball too. I think if he can stay healthy, he'll be a very good NFL QB.
Gotta admit though, I miss Brett. If it was 5 picks or 4 TD's you knew you were gonna see somthing exciting.... or maddening. Sure is strange rooting for the Jets!!

Right. Brett's a local boy, so we all pull for the Jets too now.

I agree with this and would imagine that having to follow Bret Farve would be a really hard thing to do and he is handling it well. But I'll be rooting for the Saints!

Subjected...again.
This week is is Vikings at Jacksonville.:jo
However, as a reward, we DO get the Giants at the Cards in the late game.
We've already been out for a while this morning, but maybe my dogs and I can spend another hour or so making a bunch of racket to...shall we say....disturb the hunters in the woods behind the house. Several of which are hunting illegally.:messedup I have no problem with hunters/hunting, but poaching or hunting illegally, when the number of legal deer taken in Wisconsin is over 500,000 proves there is no reason at all to do otherwise, is a little bothersome.
I thought about cranking my WCR Goodwood equipped ES 335 through my hasserlized Carvin Bel Air 2X12 combo in the garage. That would really turn the deer skittish for miles in every direction. But that might be too blatant and one of the dogs might be "mistaken" for a deer. But, if we are just running around and "playing/training" on my own property, then I see no real harm there.;)
That should kill some of the time until the second game.:)

This Miami NE game is shaping up to be an amazing game! Cassel is really starting to become something!
In the last two games Cassel has amassed 891 yards of total offense with his arm and legs. That's just plain ridiculous. He's going to be one rich dude next season via free agency. Or if Brady's knee doesn't rehab properly the Pats will franchise him.
Either way, good for him!

Don't look now, but my Jets are a team to be reckoned with.
In the newspapers before the game, it asked if we were going to see the Brett Favre of old, or the old Brett Favre? I think we know the answer to that. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
Man, Cassel is amazing.
He's been on the fast track this season in a sink or swim situation that I think would be major fire to the feet of ANY QB. Filling in for Tom Brady aint no walk in the park. But the young man seems to be doing it. Unreal...with all their missing personnel, the Pats are still a threat. Playoff material for damn sure.
But, then again...so is that little team from Indy!!!! Nothin' like peaking during the stretch run to the playoffs!
Next week at Cleveland...keep it up guys! Dont be psyched to think we can coast on that one. Remember Buffalo!
Oh...and uh...THANKS BRETT AND THE JETS!!!! You guys took 'em down a peg. :banana
GO COLTS!!!

Yeah the Pats, Jets, and Colts are all on the rise in the AFC.
The Jets are really looking good right now, the Pats look almost like the Pats of old and the Colts are doing what it takes to win. QB's from all 3 teams are performing at a high level. Highest accolades for all three quarterbacks.
My team the Ravens bounced back after that mess in New York last week to dominate on D once again against the Eagles. Ed Reed turned the game around with two picks and Flacco managed it really well throwing zero INT's.
All the attention though was centered on the Donovan McNabb benching though. When I saw that the Eagles sent Kolb in I looked skyward and said "thank you." McNabb was playing bad and the Ravens D' helped with that but to put Kolb in against the Ravens was a mistake.
We are in the hunt for a wild card playoff spot and for the division lead as well. If we don't win the division it's going to be tough on us if we tie certain teams. Indy beat us earlier so they would win in a tie breaker. It's going to be an exciting end of the season.
Looking at a few schedules: Indy has a cream puff schedule the rest of the way compared to the Steelers. Actually it's an easy schedule regardless of who you compare them to. The Ravens still have the Steelers, Redskins, and Cowboys on their docket.

My Jaguars ran a fumble-rooskie on the first play...except they forgot the 'rooskie' part.
But I did make a 200:1 'fun' bet in Vegas for the Falcons to win the SB...so goooooo Falcons!
Oh and...the Titans are who we thought they were! Fisher doing that lame parachute stunt just looked...desperate somehow.

That darn Michael Turner destroyed me for 39 points this week in fantasy. AHHH!
That's nothin' - T.O. got SIXTY points for me - on my bench!
But he's staying there. I'm an Iggles fan.

"The Autumn Wind is a Pirate,
Blustering in from the sea,
With a rollicking song,
He sweeps along,
Swaggering boisterously.
"His face is weather-beaten,
He wears a hooded sash,
With a silver hat about his head,
And a bristling black mustache.
"He growls as he storms the country,
A villain, big and bold,
And the trees all shake
and quiver and quake,
As he robs them of their gold.
"The Autumn Wind is a Raider,
Pillaging just for fun,
he'll knock you around,
and upside down,
and laugh when he's conquered and won."
The tide is starting to turn.....

It's impressive. It makes you wonder how much is the QB, and how much is the 'system'.
Sort of like Denver was with RB's? You know?
Maybe Brady is overrated, but a great fit for the system.

Hard to say at this point. Cassel would need quite a few 4th comebacks and playoff wins before anyone would know for sure. He's certainly been in one of the best 2 game "zones" I've ever seen. Considering he put up those numbers against the Jets and Dolphins defenses makes it all the more amazing. He shredded the hell out of both of them.
And considering he attempted 94 passes and was only sacked 5 times is a killer stat for what is basically a first year QB. He was getting sacked at a record pace the first half dozen games or so but has improved his pocket presence by leaps and bounds since.

KIckoff in the dome shortly. Lookin for a Pack win. Should be a fun game to watch.
As far as QB's and all that, does Brett get a mention for MVP this year? I know it's early yet but the Jets were pretty bad last year. I think Brett brings the intangeble of confidence to a team and thats infectious. Guess well have to see how the rest of the season goes for the Jets.

Dang, Green bay is "Sybil" lately. Hard to say which GB team is gonna show up from week to week. An O line that played great last week against the Bears D was aweful and our pass defense was terrible. But no excuses, Hats off to the Saints. They came to win.

When we're not clicking [which has been about two very costly games] we're ugly.
But when this offense is *right* .....LOOK OUT!!
Drew Brees is the man. That pass while moving left and throwing down the sideline to Colston was friggin unreal.

Man, this year the people are so busy being superstars they're going to cost themselves points.

G men!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Drew Breese is amazing (yet another QB from Indiana who made good...he's a Purdue Grad.).
That guy is in a league with Peyton, Brett, Tom and the rest of the elite QB's in the NFL. The real jawdropper is the way he sees the field, and the way he places that ball so perfectly that his recievers dont have to break stride.
If the Saints can continue the level I saw last nite...they will be a force in the playoffs.

Hey, I think Brady's pretty darn good. Even if it is a GOOD system. His career passer rating is 92.9, right behind Kurt Warner (94.5) and Peyton Manning (94.1) and ahead of Joe Montana (92.3). Add Steve Young's untouchable 96.8 rating to the mix, and you got a list of the great QBs who all put up their numbers in well thought out systems.
Of course, Brady's only thrown 26,000 yards at this point in his career. It's the next 20,000 that people will really judge him by.

11-25-2008, 09:55 AM
Oh I agree, he's definitely an elite talent, but again, it's also as a result of the system.
Not a ding on him, I agree Montana, Young, and Warner are 'system' QB's as well.

When he flipped the ball crossing into the end zone, the nose of the ball barely broke the plane. It was ALMOST a fumble/touchback Packer ball.

I remember a game from last year where Brady stood flatfooted for at least 7-10 seconds calmly surveying the endzone for an open man and of coarse, found one. Pretty amazing line there.

Absolutely. I can't stand the guy, but he's got great coaches, supporting cast, fantastic line, and a top notch office.
