Years ago I was backstage before a DP concert in Japan, Blackmore was in a pissy mood, played like shit, and left the venue before an encore. Monster guitarist but bad attitude. Is he still the same after all these years?

Last year Blackmore's night were performing near out hometown, in Italy.
A friend of my son, working in a restaurant, called us to inform that Blackmore and the band were having dinner at the restaurant were he works.
My son and 2 friends went there to try to talk to him and have an autograph.
They were not allowed anyway near the entourage.
This prick never showed and left the restaurant by a backdoor.
Mind you that there were 3 people, 3 kids, teenagers, asking for an autograph, not 3000.
The man in black was and remains an asshole.
Great guitarist, one of the best, but an asshole just the same.
Ciao

During the Perfect Strangers tour, he tried to pickup a girl I dated. He was very nice to her. ;)
Think the stories vary from him being an ass to cordial...

Met him after a Rainbow show from the Down To Earth tour. Chatted with him for about an hour and a half. He was very nice.

Also met Roger Glover, Graham Bonnet, Don Airey and Cozy Powell. Powell was the only one who didn't stick around to chat.

Paid top dollar to see him in NY years ago. Had 2nd row seats and AC/DC was the opening act.
AC/DC came on and did great.
Then Blackmore came on. You could tell he was pissed. Played 1 1/2 songs and walked off. That was the end of the concert.

Then a few years later Blackmore, Dio, and Powell came into a local bar to check out a band that had a keyboard player they were interested in.
They ended up playing Smoke on the Waer with the band. Very cool.
When the show was over Blackmore took about 7-8 of us back to a mansion he was renting in Stamford, Ct and we hung out.
Blackmore got out a classical guitar and played some really cool stuff.

Two different people.

It just goes to show you that he is a human, not a god.
Everybody has a bad day.

Perhaps he was not happy with the venue or soundman.

But professionalism dictates that the show must go on.

There are many reports of certain musicians with bad attitudes, but you are not privy to what is going on in their lives.
