What happens to scalper's tickets?

What happens to scalper's tickets when it's show time? Was just thinking about going to see what I could get for AC/DC tonight in Columbus.

What happens when they run out of time and get stuck with them? Is there a central dumping ground at the venue?

I'm sure if you walk around there you'll find someone with extra tickets..

I don't know about street scalpers, but the brokers (the ones who snap up the prime seats before sales open to the general public) sell them back to the promoter/venue so they can be sold at the door. This is why you can sometimes buy tickets to "sold out" shows on the night of the show.

The tickets get much cheaper 5 minutes after the show starts, right before they turn into regular paper!
