So we've moved to CO, unpacked and organized.
Well..everything is pretty much in the right place now, except for my CD collection. Just nowhere to put it.

So I've thought about buying an iPod and putting everything on there. A new home stereo system with an iPod dock would make a cool XMas gift too! ;)

SO...for about 300 CDs or so, what should I be looking at?
No movies, no real fancy stuff...just memory size I guess.

Learn more about compression. If you're an audiophile you may not like the iPod. If you don't care about compression (320k sounds really good as does VBR), and you don't need movies, then the biggest ipod you can get is now 120G

BTW it still plays videos and shows photos. :)

You can set your Itunes to import cd's as mp3 320k. It'll take a while but it's worth it to get the best quality you can.

i'd luv to live in CO..you may want to consider a good pair of ear buds, but i wouldn't spend more than $75 for them...

I've got 3500 songs on my 8G with plenty of room left.
BTW I'm just outside Boulder, where you at?

If I were going to get an I Pod for home use like you described, i would get the I Pod touch, a friend has one and it's pretty cool.

Go with a classic 120gb and get a nice shelf system that you can dock it on. If your considering an iPod or any MP3 for that matter start ripping your CD's now. Do 10 a nite. Its time consuming and boring. 300 wont go quick..Have fun!

You can also import as .wav or Apple Lossless and have no real compression on it.

I have the 80 gig Classic and import in Lossless.

I love it

Another question...what generation is Apple on right now?
What generation should I be looking at getting?

You're gonna need at least 80 gig. Forget about 8 gig.
