I have been looking for power sockets similar to those found on Trailer Trash Pedalboards (Black round 110v with the round flange). I am looking to install one of these on a DIY pedalboard for use with a DC power unit under the board. I like the idea of plugging into the side of the pedalboard itself and not a power cord hanging from the DC power unit.

It has been very easy to find the rectangular ac sockets, like those used on a computer power supplies and those found on the back of guitar amps. The other version, round with a flange to allow attachment to a panel, has been impossible to find. Perhaps there is a specific name for these that I am not aware of.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

google "flanged inlet", and you'll find stuff.

not to hijack, but I've been looking for the same thing and ran across Neutrik's Power-Con plug... anybody have any experience with this?

big-league sound companies are starting to use them, and big-league touring power amps are starting to come with them. i think there is an issue with UL approval or something, but once that's sorted out, i'll bet we begin to see them everywhere.

I used this. Not black, but it works great. Might be worth checking to see if they make it in black.

I have also been looking for something like this for my board. Can someone take it a step further and point me to some info on how to solder this to a power cable so that I don't:

1. Kill myself.
2. Fry my pedals.
3. Set my house on fire.

Thanks again!

I saw a pedalboard the other day with a powercon and thought 'why the hell does that boad have a speakon output'?

Cool idea, I might look into putting one into my board.

seems like overkill considering the amperage a powercon is made to handle, and good luck finding a replacement on the road if you lose the cable.

you won't kill yourself. the back of the flanged inlet has green/black/white color coded. if you splice a power cable (grounded of course) you will see the wires inside are the same color code. than just bare some wire on the end (1/4") and put it into the holes, tighten with a screwdriver and yer done. i was surprised how easy it actually was to do.

I have a socket on my Showcase board, a white one I got from a hardware store--a smaller shop, like Ace, not like Home Depot or anything.

I had to splice my PP2+'s cable, which was relatively easy. The socket I had connected with screws under some little plates (similar to connecting a stereo-system's speakers I guess).

It's a clean look, and works great for me. The only problem is if you don't have an extension cord... ;)

Hijacking the thread slightly... I recently got a Furman PlugLok power strip for my PT2 board. I just velcro'd it to the front - perfect fit. Any AC on/near the board gets plugged into the Furman now. No loose wall-warts off the pedalboard anymore! It's a nice, elegant solution.
