Wasn't sure if I should have put this in the other thread or not, so here goes:
The back, Pogreba mahogany - old, dry, good.

The 'board - old, Braz, dry, good:

The top - and no, that's NOT ash - old, air-dried maple - seriously!

Without a doubt, this is the most painful part of the wait. For two years I've not thought about it at all, but now that it is this close (months away!) that's much more difficult. I have high hopes for this guitar....

You should cal it "The Pebble." That top looks like you threw a pebble in a pond. Very cool!

What colour are you going with for the top?

Yah, I like that! My other Heatley, a Standard, is called "Mountain" because of the unique figure on the back.

I'm pretty traditional, so probably a burst similar to fretnot's on the other thread. 'Course I really like goldtops, too.... not sure if I want to cover that top or not though - obviously it's not a flamed beauty, but it does have a certain something. Sort of.
Not sure if Scott would even do a goldtop with these guitars.

Ok, you need to stop. I have a Limited in the works as well and threads like this are NOT helping.

My opinion, not that it really matters, is a burst of some sort. I really dig the burst plain tops. I'm not a flamed kind of guy. Definitely a no when it comes to quilts.

I love gold tops. But please don't cover that top. It's just got its own personality. Congrats on what will be a great instrument!

Thanks, guys, and yes - I agree a burst is the way to go. I've always been a plaintop kinda guy. I like understated tops, and I like unique tops - I think this one captures both.
Question, which will reveal my ignorance - what are the benefits of a 1-piece top - or, ARE there benefits?

Huh....not a gold top. Maybe one day Ill do some more gold tops but right now I dont want to infect my spray booth with all that gold dust. itll be in ever other guitars finish for the next year. Its terrible shit to clean up...lol. Im kidding kind of, but right now lets stick to bursts boys, thats the idea of these guitars.

Love Scott's guitars.
Pics and tone report please!
Off subject, I can access scotts site from my work computer but not at home. Have and apple and windows computer at home and DSL. Must be something I don't have loaded on home computers? Any ideas?
Very nice! I`m waiting for my Standard, hopefully around xmas. Prey tell what is Pogreba Mahogany?

I am not normally a maple fan, but that is really nice looking. I can't wait to see it with a finish.

Prey tell what is Pogreba Mahogany?
Larry Pogreba is a Montana luthier who (as detailed in a story in the Tonequest Report) salvaged several container loads of big-leaf mahogany from Central America during fishing trips. Supposed to be great wood, very old, air-dried, came from huge stumps of previously logged trees.
After reading the article, I called him and asked if he would sell me some wood for this guitar and ship it to Scott, which he did. Scott told me it was good stuff, and I think he may have obtained a stash of his own for these guitars - but I'm not positive about that. Pogreba doesn't have a web site of his own, but his work is on the web. Dude makes some crazy guitars.
I had a lot of fun scrounging around for wood for this guitar - got some great old air-dried maple from curlymaple.com; found the Braz Rosewood somewhere, also old, air-dried. Can't remember where...

Likewise. I sent Scott an old growth mahogany body that was over 2 1/2 inches thick (could have made a one piece body out of it), and a quartersawn neck blank cut from the same tree. Also sent him an old eastern hardrock maple top and a jet black brazilian rosewood board cut a long time ago. Very excited to see what Scott's done with these materials.

Likewise +1. :) I sent over 2 mahogany bodies from the UK and also a big ol' board of eastern maple (8 feet or so I think). Should be some wicked guitars rolling out of BC!
