Have read two of his books and seen just about every episode of No Reservations. What a life this guy has led up to this point. And talk about a dream job. I'd love to be able to hang with the dude over a few meals.

Any other fans of Tony?

I loved 'Kitchen Confidentil', and I try to catch 'No Reservations' when I can. He's definitely led an interesting life. I could do without the Heroin addiction he had, but some of the other stuff was cool... ;)

+ 1!!! I just caught that episode last week. I'm a fan but don't make it a point to watch his shows.

A fan also. I have a new appreciation for chefs/line cooks. On the weekend I do a lot of cooking for the week. Because of being taller I wish the counter tops were higher. My upper back and legs are always beat after a few hours of cooking. I have to say I think people who run a kitchen all day long are pretty tough.

I think AB has more 'rock and roll' attitude than any current guitarist!

I really liked Kitchen Confidental. How is his second book?

He's funny and I like him and his show, but all he's doing is copying what Keith Floyd did on BBC almost 2 decades ago. And Keith was even crankier than Tony. He used to reduce cameramen and producers to tears.

Sure, if by "rock and roll" you mean a contrived 80's hair metal band. That's about how cool he is in my book. I cannot think of a single TV personality that fails at being a tough guy as much as AB.

His "schtick" does good a little old sometimes.
One episode, at the end, the host for the evening made a toast to AB.
It was someting along the line of "Cheers, to one of the biggest a**holes I have ever met".
They left it on air and everybody got a good laugh out of it.
Good show and I watch it when I can.

I don't know about coolest guy, but he does have the coolest show.

I like AB.. The big difference between AB and Keith Floyd is that AB actually IS a cook. Floyd never was - he learnt how to cook just so he could be on TV. And he's a bit crap at it!

I think that if you had AB's background and the chance came along to make TV then you'd do it too! The guy has kinda made his own luck and good for him.

I tire of his TV persona much faster than his book persona, but his show is fun to watch, some episodes more than others.

A turn off is that he has to remind his audience every week that he, the suburban boy from Northern NJ is a bad-ass punky chef who digs the Ramones. OK Tony, I get it.

I read "The Nasty Bits", it's a collection of stories of different food adventures, and it was fun to read.

I love Tony. He is very witty, hilarious and seems like a cool guy to hang with and he drinks and smokes, what's not to like.

That's the show catering to the least common denominator. It's already about food so there's just no more room to dumb the show down any further. And whenever the show grinds to a halt, despite being in some exotc location, AB always falls back on just drinking a Budweiser and eating from a bowl of pretzels....as if to remind us that shows about food are completely useless.

I don't care for him or the subject matter of his show, so I'm gonna go with a resounding NO to the question asked.

I like Bourdain a lot, and really enjoyed "Kitchen Confidential," too. One of my favorite things about him is how unabashedly "fanboy" he gets around certain celebrities - Marky Ramone being an example. Yeah, I can see how AB would turn some people off with his attitude and demeanor, but I think the dude's pretty cool. Found out over Thanksgiving dinner today than my 80-something Austrian grandma finds him amusing too. Ha!

Anthony is the best, and while I like Andrew Zimmern's show just a wee bit less, it's still very good. Culture, exotic food and world travel - such joys combined into one show makes for a knockout combination.

I love his show, and Anthony is a lot of fun. He's gotten humble in the last few years, not so bombastic, and he knows he sucks sometimes. But there's a lot of love for people, cultures and life hidden in there, and when it comes out, its cool.

His show is an honest journey, complete with highs and lows. It's just life. He knows it.

Love the show. He has the coolest job on earth. I love his irreverence and his Gonzo style. The Hunter S. Thompson of the food world??? Perhaps.

I loved the New Zealand episode where he's riding 4-wheel ATV's with some people and he rides up a bit of a vertical section of a sand dune only to roll the bike onto himself over and over as he tumbles downward. He's lucky he was on sand or he'd be toast. And then they played the clip in slo mo over and over.

Did you see the episode when he was filming in Lebanon? Just as the last conflict started? That was cool...

He seems very self-consciously "cool" which is NOT cool.

See the above comment about name dropping the Ramones as one example.
