Back in the 60's the trucks that hauled the fish from the small ports on the west coast of Scotland over the mountains to the markets on the east coast didn't have any heaters. It gets really cold there in the winter and it was also the days before thermal clothing etc. A driver I knew told me he wore a pair of womens tights under his overalls as they kept him really warm on the long drive. He also told me he prayed never to be in an accident and need hospitalisation.
