I remember this movie - it was probably made for TV, or even a Short - from gradeschool - but don't know what it is.

As I recall:
It was a cautionary tale. It's set in a future where it rains only once a year (or really rarely) and people can't go outside without wearing breathing apparatus (unless it's raining???). Seems like it had mostly a school-age cast, and it probably was designed for playing in schools. I think the general plot was, some kids got in trouble (or were doing something they shouldn't have been doing) and were either put in, or got locked in some chamber, and missed the rain (so they were either punished by being forced to miss the rain, or had a self-inflicted punishment). I would bet it also had some kind of environmental message.

It seems like it ends with an older person and a younger person (a boy and his grandfather) standing hand in hand. In the rain or in their suits????

It seems like I may have seen it more than once, but I can't be sure. If it was when I was in school, would have been in mid to late 70s probably.

It reminds me of other shorts I saw in school, like "The Lottery" and the one with the Red Balloon (which had no dialogue IIRC).

Anyone?

You can search by keywords there, try some descriptive terms, you might get lucky.

Sounds like the Ray Bradbury short story "All Summer In A Day"

Thanks - that might be it. I jumped on You Tube and scanned through a little bit - but it doesn't look familiar (at least the parts I scanned through) - and I tend to remember visual imagery pretty readily (once prompted).

Maybe I'm mixing up two stories though. The idea that there was only one day of summer, and one kid misses out on it, is similar to what I had with the one day of rain - so I could easily have just had that reversed.

I'll check out the whole thing when I get time and see if that's it.

Thanks.
