Big time rivalry games this weekend.

UGA/GT
UF/FSU
OU/OSU
Auburn/Alabama
Oregon State/Oregon

I'll be watching the UF/FSU game and the Auburn/Alabama game. I'll keep an eye on the OU/OSU game this evening. That one should/could get out of hand.

I expect a great game between Auburn and Alabama. This is one of those games where you throw the records out the window and play smash mouth football. Auburn's defense matches up well against a fairly anemic Crimson Tide offense.

I'm hoping the Gators aren't getting ahead of themselves this weekend. FSU pretty much hates us, has some great athletes, and has nothing to lose so they'll be dangerous if they catch the Gators sleeping.
Curious to see what happens with OU tonight.
I'm not expecting the Bama Auburn game to be much of a game past the first half.

Texas Longhorns #2 and smashed A&M on Thursday!!!! They dominated the Aggies so that won them some style points. If OU wins by a small amount, Texas goes to the championship!!!!! I hate to root for OU but I guess that I have to. Just hope that they barely win and look bad doing it. Not likely though since they are probably all juiced up to play their rivalry with OU state.

Nah man....TT won't move up that much. OU stuck the fork in them. Of course, I will be the first to admit I don't understand the BCS most of the time and never have so I could be dead wrong. There should be a playoff system. I am fully prepared for OU to move ahead of Texas, but I don't have to like it. :D

If your situation is correct, then let me hope that OU wins by 1. God I hate this system.

If OSU beats OU, then it is a two way tie between TT and UT for the Big 12 South. TT holds the tiebreaker by virtue of their head to head win. Therefore, TT goes to the Big 12 Championship game (assuming they beat Baylor). The BCS standings have nothing to do with it in this case.

The only way the BCS standings apply to the tiebreaker is in case of a three way tie, which would be the case if both OU and TT win.

Should Baylor somehow beat TT, the BCS standings again have nothing to do with it, as it would be a two-way tie between Texas and OU, and Texas goes to the Big 12 Championship game by virtue of their win against OU.

AFTER all the games this week and all the conference championships next week...THEN the BCS standings really matter. The top two...whomever they may be...play in the BCS Championship, and the rest fall where they may.

Texas is either going to the BCS Championship game (one of two ways...getting into the Big 12 Championship game and winning it...or not getting in and having the Big 12 North Champ, Missouri, upset the Big 12 South Champ), or they're going to the Fiesta Bowl as a BCS at large, Big 12 #2.

Thanks. Now I see where you guys are coming from. Damn, I really do hate this system and I am not saying that because Texas will probably get screwed. I think all 3 teams (meaning if TT and OU win today) should play this off and then the team that wins moves on. I hate bringing politics into football!

Yeah, UT beat A&M....scored 49 points. OU beat A&M...scored 66 points.

OU will hang it in OSU tonight but good. It will not surprise me if they don't put 65 or 70 on the board.

Yeah, I remember 45-35. I also remember the last time something like this happened.....and UT lost to A&M....and OU went to the B12S Championship. Do you?

It honestly doesn't matter. The "BCS Championship" means nothing more than some trumped up bragging rights.

Until it is decided by something other than human voters and mythical computer rankings, it means absolutely nothing at all.

And since ESPN has just ponied up huge sums of guaranteed money for the "BCS" through 2014, nothing is going to change the current format.

Completely agree. It's become a joke to me. Would any of the top tier teams really want to see USC in an 8 team playoff as good as their defense has been? Now they'll go crush some lame conference champion in the who-gives-a-sh!t bowl. Play it on the field. Could you imagine the excitement of a Utah or Boise State team making a run on a true national title playoff system? Every other sport in America is decided on the field, except for ice skating which is decided by judges...oh and politicking.

Here's a great article...

The OSU fumble was CLEARLY a fumble. The OU fumble that clearly WAS NOT a fumble got reviewed. I wonder what it takes to get an intentional grounding call any more. I counted no less that three times that Robinson was on the way down when he threw the ball....on two of them the flag should have been thrown.

I believe the umpire had a flask of Southern Comfort in his sock.:drink

The BigXII South, well that's a mess. At this point, because the versus wins are circular, I say you have to take out each of the 3 teams losses and vote on who's done what since. Texas says they beat OU and should go, but they leave out the part about Texas Tech beating them. Texas Tech claims victory over Texas who beat OU, then loses to OU. No way do I take Bama lightly going into this game. They're a great and well-coached team with some absolute elephants (pun intended) for an offensive line...especially Andre Smith.

I remember 1999 all too well when Bama won at the Swamp in OT and then the rematch in Atlanta that year...no one expected Bama to be able to beat UF twice in the same season.

Regardless of the outcome, I think both Bama and UF are going to have to earn the victory this weekend in what will be the toughest match-up for both teams this year so far.

Wait a second. That doesn't make sense. Based on the current BCS standings, USC is 5th. Texas and OU are both ahead of USC. So it shouldn't matter who plays Missouri. One or the other goes to the National Championship before USC. You don't have to be your conference champion to play for the National Title.

And Texas beat BOTH of the teams playing for the Big 12 "Championship".

Shows how screwed up the system is.

Wouldn't it be something if Missouri won that game? Texas goes to the National Championship by doing nothing more than sitting at home. Further proof the the system is broken beyond repair.

To be honest Gordon.....if I thought for a minute that would change the system......I'd root ALL day long for Missouri.

It's flawed all the way around. The way this season went in the B12S exposed it for what it really is.

But, as things currently are..............

BOOMER EFFIN SOONER

#1 is a helluva player, but on a dry field, #2 & #3 ain't too shabby either :AOK

True, lots of speed on that team this year luckily. Harvin's just rediculous, though. God bless that man.

big12south has two runner-ups

While that is technically correct, TTU has no shot at the MNC game at #7 in the BCS. Utah would go before TTU.

Technically?? technically???
Technically, you don't get 65 points rang on you and play anywhere. Just sayin'.

AGREED on all points and you can bet i will be GLUED to the tube on Saturday!
At least it looks like the SEC side of the National Title picture will be determined where it belongs ON THE FIELD.
And for my part as a Bama boy ROLL TIDE!
I will say this No matter how this one comes out I have tremedous respect for Florida they are class acts. This is the way it should be DONE head to head on the FIELD! What a MESS in the Big 12!!

This is not a Big 12 problem. Any conference divided into two divisions (North, South, East, West) can.........and will.......eventually have this dilemma. It just so happened to be in the Big 12 this year.........but to think it can't or won't happen in the Big East, Conference USA, SEC, or ACC is naive at best. It is not a question of "if".......it is only a question of "when".

Every conference..........or no conference should have championships. The Big 10 and Pac 10 not having one while most of the others do further makes this a cluster f*#?.

..........and you ALABAMA fans........get ready..........you'll likely get a shot at Texas in the Sugar Bowl. Then you'll have two losses this season. :roll

OU under Stoops in "Big Games" [vs Top 10] back to '02:

2008: 45-35 loss to Texas, win over TT 65-21, and ??
2007: 38-17 win over Mizz, then lose to WV 48-28
2006: 28-10 loss to Tx, 43-42 loss to Boise St
2005: 45-12 loss to Tx
2004: Win over Tx 12-0, loss to USC 55-19
2003: Win over Tx 65-13, loss to Kan St 35-7, loss to LSU 21-14
2002: Win over Tx 35-24, win over Wash St 34-14

That's 6-8 vs Top 10 teams for an "elite" program.

Not real impressive.

OU should beat Mizz, but by track record, that's no sure thing.

If OU gets beat in BCS Championship it'll just give validity to the pattern. They'd better win it all. Again, not a Stoops fan.

As has been mentioned earlier in this thread..........OU, like marijuana, gets smoked in bowls.

The thing to remember here is........OU actually GETS to the bowl to get smoked in.

One thing I DO know is UF better have left all those dumb a$$ penalties on the field at FSU....'cause Bama won't be settling for 3 pointers !
