No, not that!
Get us each a new Mac for X-mas! We have both been limping along with our older Macs for several years, now. She's on staff at the U of I Hospital, so she gets the student pricing (not that great a deal, but anything off is good). So she's looking at a 15" MacBook Pro for her, and a 24" iMac for me :D And if it goes through, I'll get her old PowerBook for remote recording if I ever need it.

Sweet!
I've got a 15" MacBook Pro (typing on it at this very moment) and I couldn't be happier. :)

D, she made a comment about getting a new laptop (sort of half kidding), so I got online and gave her the U of I pricing. Sometimes, if I wait for just the right moment, and realize this is it, that's all it takes :) It's a subtle difference, and takes experience to notice (LOL). We both REALLY NEED new computers. We are way overdue. And for me to inherit her old 12" PowerBook, is just icing on the cake. I wouldn't DO all that much on it, but just to have the mobility for recording and communication would be cool.

stratzrus, I KNOW she'd be 180% happier with a new one, too! Plus, the local U of I Store has last year's models still, and they are like $500 less than the new ones (another key factor for her :D)! Actually, for what she does, she could make out fine with just a MacBook 13". But the extra little perks on the 15" Pro can easily send her over the top. Especially the backlit keyboard!

Just picked up a 15" previous generation Macbook Pro (at guitar center no less) new for 1250. Replacing a G4 macbook that just crapped out. It is a thing of beauty!

Yea, I just saw the previous year's models being blown out by the University Bookstore. Unfortunately, they don't still have last year's iMacs.
She's started to play, though. She looked at the price sheet I brought her, and after a few hours, she says we can go get hers, but I have to wait for mine.
:roll :roll Yea, right! :roll :roll
It's just a matter of time, now. I have planted the seed.

There's probably an Apple document online about that. I'd use a toothbrush and canned air, perhaps.

The new Macbooks look awesome. Id love to get one. When she checks out the student discount see if Apple is still giving away ipods. Also, its a great time to get a discount on productivity software.

I can buy YOU with charm :) ...and remember, I know stuff, too :roll
Anyway, it's all over. I am looking at a box with a brand new 24" iMac, and another with a brand new 15" MacBook Pro :roll
See, it's all in the timing, and reading the signs. :D
Now, I need to find out how I can transfer all of our applications over without having to reinstall and re-register everything, AND without having to hunt down all of the various folders and such.
And I guess I'll be real nice, and set her up first. Besides, I need to do some modification of my desk to get it the way I really want it first, anyway.

Have fun with the new toys Scott and make sure YOU take all the phone calls or you'll have to deal with C, or TNJ or some other letter.

I just did that last year and used the the Migration Assistant. It's in the Applications>Utilities folder. I didn't have to re-register anything. The only problem was that any software issues I had with my old Mac were conveniently transferred to my new Mac.

From what I hear, Adobe CS3 will have to be de-activated before I migrate. Then re-activated from the new machine.
Luckily, I have no software issues, so...

FWIW, I had no problem with CS2.

Ahh, but I hear the security Adobe put on CS3 is way more. No matter, it'll be OK even if I have to completely reinstall CS3.

Understood! I bought this old G4 used about 7 years ago. I'll enjoy being up to date for a year LOL My luck is that they'll come out with a Super Mac in January LOL It's so hard to keep up with the technology, isn't it?

Well, my first task isn't going to be fun. I have to tear down everything on my desk, then cut the top thing off the desk (it doesn't just come off). This desk is really stupid. It is set up to have your monitor on your left, rather than right in front of you, making it bad ergonomically. With jigsaw in hand, I will correct that LOL But that will mean that once I start, I could be offline for 24 hours getting it all put back together! How can I survive 24 hours without TGP?
