Help - I have 3 old cell phones I need to get rid of. Is there a specific method to throwing these away. They are all functional btw. I just don't use them. I read somewhere that the batteries were bad for the environment.

Thanks.

drop em off at your local police station. They will set them up for needy people to call 911 on.

Donate them by all means!

Battered women's shelters will take them I think.

Our local grocer has a box for unwanted cellphones. If you have nowhere you can donate them, put em on ebay for $1 no reserve.

I'd take them to a pawn shop and try to get a couple bucks, but I'm cheap.

Any Verizon Wireless store will take them, regardless of what service the phone was used on, and refurb them for use for domestic abuse victims.

I like to throw them in the air and try to cap them with my .44 mag before they hit the ground. :)

If you hit it, problem solved. :bong

Are you sure you don't want to take Dr. Tweedbucket's recommendation?

I keep them, and have all my friends give me theirs. Something in them is going to be rare someday, and I'll be rich, rich I tell ya. :bong

You can donate them or take them to your local USPS post office. They usually have boxes that you can fill and they ship to a electronics recycling company for you. I just got a letter about it in the mail and it looks pretty cool. Apparently they do the same for batteries and all types of hazardous electronic stuff.

I was at the Verizon store today, and overheard a conversation about this. The customer was insisting that the phones could be sent to Iraq for soldiers. I'm all for this.
