Yes, i am new here so i hope that doesnt deter anyone..Just found this site been reading trying to find my answer, but don't really see it and got lost in all the other killer info...

So, my shiva for some reason doesn't change channels? Sound comes out of channel 1 but not 2 or boosted 2,

The light switches over from vol.1 to vol.2 and then to b.vol2, yet there is no sound when i change from Vol.1?
Tried this with and without footswitch still no sound from channel 2

the volumes are well up.. tried twitching knobs still no sound? The boost works on channel 1 though.

The reverb works as well.

the only thing is Channel 2 does NOT make any noise...no hum, no hiss, nothing?

could this be tube related? Power or Pre? I pulled them...used contact cleaner replaced and still nothing?

Thanks in Advance!

It could be a preamp tube. But kind of doubt it. Usually when a preamp tube goes bad, it won't amplify anything before the tube, but if you turn it up, you should get a slight bit of noise of the power amp section. Not signal, but a tiny bit of hiss.

I don't know the Shiva schematic off the top of my head, but I do know that some channel switching amps have an IC or a transistor to mute the signal when it switches channels, so there is no pop. Sometimes, when these go, they will stick in one position, and one channel will stay muted. Hard to say without having the amp in front of me though.

Or it could be a bad relay.

But it's all guesses at this point, is it under warranty?

Probably a job for a tech if you can't cure the problem on the outside.

well i tried a couple tubes got it to work ...now my power light is crazy ....comes on sometimes, then not... but if i tap the head with my palm of the hand it comes on ??

Weird....i dont care too much about the light, but could that have any vaiable?

The channel lights come on, but the green power light only kicks on when switched to "play"
or with a little help fom me tapping the general area with my hand in the standby position..

My channels do switch and i get sound out of both channels..

What is the warranty thought it was lifetime? I never got a card from the dealer? Now that i searched the bogner site i see you need it for repair...oh well

Any chance you're using a foot switch? I've seen these be the culprit and when you unplug it the amps is fine.

The power light probably has nothing to do with the channel not switching.

Sometimes those lights die, and when they do they can be a bit intermittent right before they go. Doesn't really hurt anything to play the amp with a burned out bulb.

yeah amp sounds killer.....lights not a problem, i know that on some pedals though the value of the lights actually affect the tone...so was making sure there is no connection between the 2 ...thanks you ...
