I have a ss peavey transtube Special 212 that I haven't touched in 6 years. Im trying to get some extra cash so I would like to sell it. The amp had a short on both inputs, but I just resoldered that, and now it works fine. That and a broken reverb knob was the only problem it had before it was put in my closet. Now I think all of the pots need to be cleaned because they are all scratchy, and the reverb knob only works when it is on ten. I think maybe the solder joints went bad on it. Is there an easier way to get to the pots than pulling off all of the knobs, unscrewing the nuts that hold on to the 40 pots, and then unscrewing the circuit board and flipping it?
I would like 250 for the amp. should I just try to sell it on craigslist or on here as-is?

i don't mean to cause trouble, but... you haven't used it for 6 years, it don't work right, and you want 250 bucks? you should just dump it quick on craigs for a hundred bucks or offer.

well I played it for awhile and turned all the knobs a bunch, and now none of the pots are noisy. It sounds great on all three channels, and works as it should, except the reverb still only works when it is on ten. I think im going to buy a new pot, and take the thing apart to fix it.
Audiozone - it was like 600 bucks new or something in 1998 when I got it, and it is in nm condition other than the reverb knob. It actually has great sounds in it, but it is a channel switch style of amp, and I prefer single channel amps. It has that peavey country/ pedal steel style clean sound, but the transtube thing gives it a little bit of tubey breakup when you dig in. The Drive channel has a very marshally style growl, ranging from the acdc slightly broken up sound, to more of a soundgarden/alice in chains extreme crunch sound. The Ultra channel sounds like pantera or metallica - very distorted. It surprisingly isn't a crappy 100 dollar solid state amp.

ok so i'm a jerk... but did my comment make you get after it and try to fix it yourself by turning all the knobs till the pots weren't noisey anymore?

didnt mean to imply you were a jerk, and no I did that to the pots before I saw your post while the board was down this afternoon.
