Any of them. RCA , Mazda and Bendix come to mind as being top drawer.

Bendix
The Bendix 5Y3 equivalent is the 6106 (for all you non-tube-sellers) :YinYang

I hear new production Rectos can be unreliable. I would go NOS. From Dockery amps site
"NOS JAN Phillips 5Y3GT)
The NOS rectifier will provide the correct voltage drop to get the right sag feel (many new production tubes don't have the correct voltage drop)."

The Bendix 6106 hands down.

Bendix on its way from Tube Depot - would have ordered from KCA, but they don't ship internationally under $100.
Many thanks!

New production 5y3's are not "real" 5y3's. They are more like a 5ar4.
Too bad none of the current manufacturers makes a real one, because NOS specimens are going to go away someday.:worried

The Bendix 6106 hands down.
+1 on the Bendix. Super rugged, and I especially like the slow warmup in amps without a standby like the Dr Z Carmen Ghia, and the Suhr Badger.

I have gotten really fond of the Jan/Hytron 5Y3WGTA tubes. Specifically the middle one in the photo below. These are nearly as rugged as the Bendix and can often be found for 1/3rd the price.

the best 5Y3 IMO is the Bendix (it goes under a different designation, but it's essentially a 5Y3.
Blue Strat (KCA NOS Tubes) sold it to me and it has lasted forever and I put it in an amp that was notorious for rattling the tubes to death... never a rattle from this tube.

I like the GE 6087 which is indirectly heated and can be found for little $$$

I had a Sovtek 5Y3GT in my LSS. sounded fine. At a guitar show back in January, I picked up some tubes. One rec tube is a CBS 5Y3GT and the inside plates are substanially less metal than the Sovtek. The white box it came in is marked 1960.
It works, sounds great but I was looking any info about the CBS tube someone could offer up.
Thanks
