6V6 busted in shipping

I just bought one of the last TopHat Portly Cadets and the Tung -Sol 6V6 is broken , I'm guessing from shipping . The seller is on the east coast and said he would see what he had in the store .Instead of waiting for him to ship whatever he finds I'm going to just buy one . TopHat recomends Tung-Sol 6V6 . All I'm finding is Tung-Sol 6V6 GT , will that be ok ? What does the GT stand for ? Is there some super magic tube that would be better ?

The "GT" stands for "glass tube" and they are the same tube.

That would be a question best answered by... you! NOS tubes are way better built than current production tubes, but whether the sound is tonal nirvana is up to your own ears. My experience says that different amps/circuits "sound great" (to me) with certain tube combinations. Tubes really do make a differance , I had an Electro-Harmonix 6v6 from another amp and stuck it in last night just to see if the amp worked . It sounded real bad , I checked the ebay listing to see if there was a return policy ...nope . Got my Tung-Sol 6V6 this morning ,stuck it in and wow what an amp !

Get the TS and a NOS, you'll see just how close those TS's are in comparison and you'll have a spare!
