I had an astronomy class in high school. The teacher-- anticipating the reaction of us little idiots-- never pronounced the name of the seventh planet as "ur-anus". He pronounced it "urine-us".

It's tough being a high school astronomy teacher.

Ours did that, too, as if it was somehow more proper. In my mind's eye, it was spelled "urinous," like ruinous, only more yellow. Go figure.

I've heard that there has been space travel to Uranus, but they had trouble with the landing every time. Through a good telescope, you can see the skid marks around Uranus.
