MMW - Radiolarians Anyone Else Lovin' it?

Medeski, Martin, and Wood's new release, Radiolarians, is blowing my mind. This could be my favorite one by them yet......"Cloud Wars" is killing me.....

MMW have been one of my favorites since i saw them live on the horde tour in 97 or so. They were on a small side stage down in at the Chula Vista show but had a huge crowd diggin the deep grooves. Being 20 years old, it was the first time I saw deep, funky grooves get inside a crowd and move them. Since then, MMW has always been my anti-guitar dominate foil.

Radiolarians1 is slowing becoming my favorite of their releases. Each track has its own spellbinding effect on me.

Whats funny about MMW, it has always inspired me to go and create something, totally different from their music but at the same time I would have to point to them as my inspiration. It inspires to look at music from a differnent angle. If I had to point to one musical focus as the most unique and influention in my view of music, if would be MMW.

Very cool! I too have been digging them since about the same time, '96-'97 or so. Friday Afternoon In The Universe was my favorite back then. MMW continues to evolve and expand. It seems to me that they have reached the truly mind blown realm of pure music. It's like they couldn't get off the groove if they wanted to! When everything is breaking down in "Cloud Wars", it's STILL grooving. And what about some of those weird, almost accordian-like tones Medeski is pulling out in the slower, dreamier tracks? WTF is that???

They make me feel creative, too. Lot's of creative energy coming from those boys. Whew.

Cool, I just read a great review of this disc. I'm on it. I saw him in TJ Kirk years back. Sick show.
