I see a lot of rock, country, and blues, acts. I have even seen BB and ZZ from the front two rows in the last two months. To me, none of it compared to Buddy Guy this evening. His Showmanship was killer. His voice was soulful, and his playing was amazing. We also ahd a great crowd. In my head, from his cd's, I kind of had a dislike for his tone and always thought it was a little sharp and harsh. In person, he blew me away. By far one of the top concerts I've been to, and for sure one of those concerts that is inspirational. If he comes to your city...see him.

The man could power a city with his energy.

A living legend.:)

opened for him a few times in '98. He was truly "phoning it in" then...so disappointing. Glad to hear he's on fire again.

I saw him back in summer of '07, he was terrific!

Where did you see him at?

Saw him at Wichita KS Venue called The Cotillion...it's an older place that has had a ton of huge names over the year. I've seen a lot of groups there and was pleased that it seemed nearly as full as it is for more modern bands.

Forgot to mention...I always try and get picks. I got a Buddy Guy pick...it was like many...on one side it had his signature, on the other, it honestly says "You Go F### Yourslef"...pretty funny.

I saw him at Glastonbury in the UK.Unbelievable showman.Absolutely owned the stage. He could stand still and have the audience in his palm.I watched, and he made me smile constantly, with admiration. The energy he projected was more than some teen bands.A legend.

Seen him quite a few times at shows and at his Legends club. He always delivers. The man paces and prowls the stage like a caged animal. Glad you like the show!

I saw him, several years ago, where he started his set (backlit, in silhouette; with his back to the audience - so, he looked left-handed) with "Red House". He revealed himself, compellingly, as one of Hendrix's sources. He was on fire and focused. That he sang like Little Richard was another impressive quality.
I've also seen him when he just seemed to be noodling, not listening to his band, playing "cute" to the audience. Ice pick tone, sloppy, and off key. A huge let down.
Buddy's a force of nature, when he wants to be.

He was on when I saw him in April. Absolutely inspiring show and one of the best I've seen for sure. Again I was glad to find his tone live to be great as opposed to his recordings of late. One thing that really blew me away was his voice - damn that guy can sing!

I bet that was a neat place to see him at.

I've heard his picks had that on them but I didn't know if it was true or not. I guess it is!

Saw him at his place on his 61st birthday. Too drunk to play and too rude to talk to. Kim Wilson and the Fab T's were hip so still a great evening.

Glad to hear he's doing a good show these days. My experiences are mostly his "show biz" bit with his "Then Jimi did..then Eric did...then Stevie did...", over the top showboating, "playing 'cute' to the audience", as previously charaterized, etc. Always one of my favorite singers, and if you haven't heard it, get "Folk Festival of the Blues" on Chess. His best singing and playing.
