Watcha got (keyboardist friend feels in a rut)? Thanks.

Good Love - the Rascals.
Warm California Sun
All She Wants to Do Is Dance.

Most any new wave tune - Blinded Me With Science, You Spin Me Right Round Baby Right Round Like A Record Baby Right Round Round Round, etc.

Mickey (Toni Basil), Our House (Madness), Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Lauper - her Time After Time is a great one - though I've heard *yet another* cover of it recently). Funkytown (Lipps Inc.), Relax (Frankie GOes to Hollywood), Der Kommisar (Falco), Don't You Want Me (Human League - that's one of the ultimate synth songs), and let's not forget, Tainted Love (soft cell)

I mean, almost every 80s new wave band was synth driven, so there's oodles of stuff there.

If he wants to try and cover horns and strings parts, most any 70s disco song will do - the KC catalog, Jackson 5, etc.

I personally think a keyboard player should be able to cover horn lines, string pads, organ, piano, and sound effects/samples. I mean, if they do, it opens up virtually every song to a band. We used to do Tone Loc and House of Pain and stuff like that with keyboard samples played live. It really adds to it.

HTH,
Steve

That's exactly what I was thinking. Some really good stuff from the 80's dammit, I'm tired of being ashamed!!! :boxer

Seriously, there's a ton of that kind of stuff along with spaced out 70's (ala Pink Floyd etc) that I think could be a keyboardist's wet dream.

Check out a current group named Electric Six.

They combine rock, funk, disco with 80's cheese.
