View Full Version : I keep hitting the pickup selector by accident on my LP. Can I get a shorter toggle?

I'd like to replace the pickup toggle on my Les Paul with a shorter stemmed switch. Anything like that out there?

Any other suggestions to make it harder to accidently hit the switch?

How are you picking? You have to have your hand pretty far forward to regularly hit the toggle on a Les Paul, and with a pretty wide range of motion.

Does it happen when you take a flying leap off your double stack? :D

How about one of those mini toggle's that you see on some guitars and amps? It would be shorter for sure.

I can see people hitting the volume knob on a Strat, but a LP toggle? How do you do that?

Ha Ha. I've been playing alot of VH and hit it when I get to tapping parts sometimes. It's really awesome when you get to the 'show off' part and kill all the sound. (I usually keep my neck volume low for cleans) =l

Wouldn't a better idea be to rotate the toggle through 90 degrees? That way you might still hit it but you're unlikely to change the setting.

As Dr. Phil would say: "You gotta stop doin' that!"

I like this idea, and pull of the plastic too... worth a try anyway.

^The best idea.

Or just tape it down with electrical black tape....rock star style.

i hit mine on my LP all the time. the good news is i pretty much leave it on the bridge only setting (down) so i rarely knock it out of the position i want.

You must have quite a windmill swing to hit that switch.:rotflmao

What about installing a rotary type switch there with a small knob instead? On some of the old Electra LP copies they put a 5 way rotary dial there that was wired to also give out of phase and series sounds.

I'll admit to getting carried away at times:agree

Maybe you could file down the switch currently on there. And the plastic knob too, it might shorten it just enough.
