Last weekend I bought a new Epiphone Masterbuit AJ-500RE. It had some pretty old strings so I talked them into putting on a new set as part of the sale. This is the first acoustic I've owned in awhile and I always used Elixir Nonowebs on all my acoustics in the past as they're my favs.
The only Nanowebs they had were the new PB type so I had them installed. Big mistake! They sound nothing like the regular Nonwebs and just killed the tone of my guitar. Nice lows, but the mids were drowned out the high end just had no shimmer. Nothing like the Elixir sound I know and love.
Maybe it was just the combination of these strings and this guitar, but it just didn't work for me. I read some rave reviews for these strings and was surprised at how much I disliked their sound.
Any of you guys try these strings yet?
They sound great on my Taylors.

I like the Phosphor Bronze Nanos a lot better than the 80/20 Nanos. If you change them string by string, then you can hear what the PB vs. 80/20 sound is. Having said that, I'm not using Elixirs at the moment on any of my acoustics.

I personally am a phosphor bronze person. I actually beta tested these before they came out. I prefer the PB nano's however if you like the chime of the reg nano's, I recommend you go back. Just keep in mind that PB's start off as brassy then mellow out. You might want to let them settle in for a little bit just to make sure if you like or not.
Elixers kill the mids. I much prefer D'Addario Phosphor Bronze(so does Bill Collings), John Pearse, or best of all(and not cheap), Pyramids.

I think the original strings may have been D'Adarrio's. They were pretty well used up, but still had a better tonal balance on my guitar than the Elixir's.

I like these too. I've pretty much switched entirely to them.

Restrung my Epi with Nano 80/20's and what a difference. I can see where the PB would be popular and work well from some guitars, but they just weren't a good match for mine. I was thinking these would have worked really well on a really bright Taylor-414 I used to own. The added bass should definitely work on the Taylors.

A lot of people prefer Phosphor Bronze. I used to myself, I used phosphor for about 20 years... but when I got my wechter, I ended up liking the 80/20s the best (although I actually prefer polyweb on that guitar to the nanoweb), and when I got my Crowdster Plus I preferred the nano again (as I do on my electrics), but I tried phosphor and 80/20 both I prefer 80/20 A LOT! So, no, you're not the only one. Phosphors sound too "round" to my ears.
Different strokes...
