Looking hard at a 1x12. Impressive on paper, heavy on the wallet. Anyone played or own one? Thanks.

Isn't the Avenger a Soldano product?

I haven't played the 1x12...I have however played the 2x10/1x12 combo...And it sounded AMAZING!!!!! big spacey...harmonic 3D sounds...I have a feeling the interesting speaker configuration lent to the amazing unique tone...So my 2 cents..is order THAT avenger...They're all crazy expensive..And I doubt the 1x12 will have the bigness(for lack of a better term)...
they all probably sound good though.:banana

If it is the 210 112 version..pull the trigger immediately!! If it is one of the other versions...I would assume you should still pull the trigger..But haven't played the em yet...
If it IS the 210 112..and you dont like it ...I'll buy it off you for 2K.

It's the 1x12 version. I only got to play it for a couple of minutes but was impressed. I am going back to put it through the paces.

After two years of ruminating, listening, searching, and finally finding one, I'm thrilled to say I snagged an Avenger 1x12 combo, and wow, what sounds! For me it's the perfect Matchless. All that signature Matchless grind, but a slightly softer, less abrasive top end, and the cleans are warm, defined, and sparkling. Great reverb and MV, a 1/2 power switch (30-15), and very interactive bass/mid/treble pots. And of course it has all the punch of a sledge hammer like all Matchless! I spoke with Phil at Matchless and he described the preamp as being 90% Chieftain but with EL84s, and a bit of its own thing going on (he calls it a hint of Fender).
A lesser known but absolutely stellar Matchless amp!

Put a pair of 5V4G in mine last night. Wow , it's much sweeter than the GZ34 , but the Sylvania bases were a pain to insert since they're much bigger
than the factory tube and required a bit of tube-holder bending .

I also found a 12AT7 in the reverb recovery was much better at noise-floor control and gave a decent effect at 12 o'clock on the dial.
