I was wondering if anybody else here has this pup combination.

In February I'll will get my alder telecaster with a m/r neck (USACG)
It has a lollar firebird neck pup and a vintage wound Curtis Novak bridge.

I know that the Firebird pup is the brightest and most single coil sounding humbucker made, so I thought it would be a great fit as a replacement for the standard tele neck pup.

Who in here is using a firebird pup together with a traditional tele bridge pup. What pots are you using and why.

My tone control will only be connected to the bridge. I'm hoping I can get away with the stock 250K volume pot and a .022 cap with a 250k bridge tone pot, and that it won't kill the vibe of the firebird pup.

The smaller the tone cap value, the less bassy it'll be when I turn the tone down right? Not looking for that west coast tone, just to tame the highs a bit. I might even use a no-load pot.

I'm looking for the simplest way of getting this right and I'd like to not compromise the traditional tele bridge tone in any way if possible and still get a good tone form my firebird pup:)

What do you guys think?

I think you're on the right track. You'll just have to give it a try.
