Just wondering what are the differences between these two OD's...

The Barber LTD goes from clean boost to low gain.

The LTD has much less gain on tap. With the gain cranked, it's more like a cranked small tweed-ish champ. The DD has a lot more, even getting into metal territory.

There are a couple different versions of the LTD. The big difference among them seem to be the flavor of mids. I used to have one of the older v1 LTDs. They are pretty mid-heavy, but don't have quite the mid bump of the DD.

If you need a low gain OD, the LTD is a great choice. It's voiced quite different from the DD.

I own the LTD SR, it is a great low-gain OD with a relatively flat EQ. There are internal trimpots to adjust presence and bass. The tone control at noon is the "flat" position, turning CW gives you more highs/less bass (rather quickly-very sensitive control), turning it CCW gives you-you guessed it-more bass/less highs, again rather quickly. It is really a great, usable tool. I play mine through a TopHat Club Deluxe, which already has a lot of mids happening, so the SR is a great match. For a Fender BF type amp or similiar, you might want the slightly increased mids of the Silver or the even more mids of the standard version.

Interesting. My amps are rather small (Peavey Backstage Plus and a Pignose). I'm looking for a warm, gritty tone. Would the SR still be appropriate?

My Silver LTD gives great mid-gain tones, with very little coloration. The transparency of the pedal is what I like, it sounds like my amp distorted.

The DD is the warmer of the two, and has plenty of "Grit", but you can't really get very low gain out of a DD.

Sounds like what you need is a DDLG (Direct Drive Low Gain). Outstanding version of a great pedal. a "noon" setting is pretty close to a standard DD at 8 O'Clock.
