WE HAVE BEEN ASKED BY MANY BUYERS IF WE WOULD SPLIT THE GUITAR AND SELL AS PARTS
IE BODY , PICK UPS ETC, WHICH WE WOULD CERTAINLY CONSIDER DOING.
That's horrifying to me. An all original '59 being torn up for parts. Unless it was damaged beyond repair, that just seems like a sin.

I have a '57 refinned Tele, and several dealers have told me that it's more valuable parted out. To most of them, it's just commerce...

The boys at the LPF feel that the guitar has major undisclosed issues.

And they should know, since most them also have many undisclosed issues.

It's seems insane to even consider tearing it apart. It's hard to believe they would make more money that way. But I guess if someone had a treasured 59 of there own that need a part they might break out the big bucks.

You do not rip up a '59 Burst for parts. If I had my way, I'd prosecute anyone who tore up that guitar. That's sacrilege. Aynbody who says, "It's just a guitar" knows absolutely nothing about original Sunburst Les Pauls.

It's just a guitar.
It may even be a complete dog of a guitar.
I'd rather have the correct parts in a wonderful 'Burst that had been stripped over the years than in a crappy 'Burst just because that's the way it came.

if it's a dog burst then chances are it'll always be a dog burst. can't mix and match major parts (neck, body, etc.) like on a fender.

"can't mix and match major parts (neck, body, etc.) like on a fender." Why not? Neck and body are an issue but everything else would be fair game. Ask Duane why he kept the pups from his goldtop when he bought the burst.

I was talking about the one for sale.
If it sucks, then I have no problem parting it out and rebuilding another 'Burst that's missing parts.

He says that it's never been refretted...it definitely has. You can tell by the lack of binding on the fret ends.
