I tells yah, it can't be done. Fuzz pedals sound like absolute crap through the Klon. Although, I've never played through or heard a Klon because my Distortion + pedal kills it.

Um?? If you've never "heard" a klon, how do you know a fuzz would sound crap through one?

that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard...I'm sure it wouldn't sound too bad!

It's all a matter of personal taste...I for one don't care for a Fuzz Face into an overdrive pedal but thats me...

It depends on the fuzz circuit. I've had some that just won't react well to any type of boost or overdrive played in conjunction with them, no matter how good the other pedal in question. And then some don't seem to mind the good boost/overdrives (like the Klon) so much, and you can get some decent tones.
My Fuzz Face into Klon is good, but my Fuzz Face into the Zen Drive is spectacular.

69 pedal into Klon is a killing combo in the right hands.

Yeah, I had a friend named Phil who had an MXR D+... it was the rat's ass of dirt pedals.
I use an Eternity pedal to get rid of the nastyness of one of my fuzz pedals. I am sure a Tron will impart an eq curve that may be pleasing and might help some of your fuzzes sound pretty good.

I love the Sunface into Honeybee into clean amp.

Somebody once told me that a FF into any TS type pedal sounds like absolute crap. Tried it out and found that FF into a TS is the only OD pedal I like to stack with my Sunface NKT275 (except for the obvious treble booster). I don't like stacking my fuzzes with OD's. I know a Klon is not a TS, I am just saying this because you never know what you will like as opposed to what somebody else likes/dislikes.
Never played a Klon, so I can't help you there, but I would try it for yourself if you can (not sure if you own both) and see if you like it regardless of what people say. Everyone's opinion is different.

Um, why wouldn't it work just fine?
I used to stack my CC2's FuzzFoot into the Klon, using the Klon as a mid-recovery unit, and it sounded fine into my Black Cat...
Depends on too many factors, however, such as how you use your fuzz face, your guitar and proclivity towards volume knobs, and your amp...
One of my favorites is running my Dam Drag'n'Fly (Fuzz Face Hybrid) into the Klon with the gain rolled back and the the treble turned up. I think the treble control on the Klon actually makes it very versatile at boosting other pedals.

This is the most asinine post I have read today. You are giving advice about a pedal that you have never played OR heard!
I guess the prepubescent teens are out in force today! :messedup
FWIW, I run an Analogman Sunface (Fuzz Face clone) into my Klon, and it is glorious! In addition, I push the Klon with an Analogman Beano Boost and an FX Engineering Spitfire, which are also germanium based.

here the KLON is in the last loop, the Fuzz Head, Reeza, Texas Squareface, London Fuzz and Wolftone Mach. are before it and all sounded terrible into the KLON.

Here the same results, the Red Dragon and Mayer Octave were no friend of the KLON.
I tried stacking OD's with it and it could work, and the KLON before a Fuzz just doesn't work. It has been my experience the KLON works best alone.

Yes, it does. I tried:
Strat + Fulltone '69 + Barber DD V5 = CRAP
Strat + Fulltone '70 + OCD V4 (as a "clean" boost) = HEAVEN (and Hendrix...)
TS type pedals (like my Barber DD) get TOO compressed after a fuzz face and FART a lot.
Before a fuzz, they turn a good fuzz face into an ordinary trebly distortion, IMO.
I must say when stacking the pedals, I had to bring down a lot the volume of the fuzz (from full to less than a half).
Note: my amp (1970 Marshall Super Bass) has a good headroom, I think it matters a lot.

Actually having tried this, I would recommend going the other direction, Klon into Fuzz. That works better for me. Or better yet, Klon into Chicago Iron Octavian into Fuzz. NOW you are talking!

Depends on too many factors, however, such as how you use your fuzz face, your guitar and proclivity towards volume knobs, and your amp...
That's the main thing...
Anytime you stack a fuzz into an OD, suddenly things get way more adjustable...suddenly you have the guitar vol. into the fuzz...fuzz knob, fuzz vol. and output of the fuzz into gain-tone-volume...which gives tons of flexibility.
I am positive there are folks that try this out, having fuzz set where it normally is, same with guitar, same with OD, and try it thinking...well this sucks. Maybe adjusting a little OD-tone knob, but not EXPLORING the relation and what can be got out of it. With the kind of fuzzes I like, rolling off the guitar vol, cleans up, thins, and brightens up the guitar sound...send that into an OD and you might want to offset, setting gain first, then tone, then back and forth, also adjusting the fuzz output volume...
One can go SEVERAL rounds of adjustments, but if you listen and not even think theory but just hear what affects what you can get a wide variety of sounds.
Klon is often used as boost only, with gain way down...but I know if I tried ff into Klon, I'd want gain up a little, adjust the (which adjusts more than just tone) tone control, guitar vol....back and forth.

I like the sound of my '69 into the klon quite a bit. I keep the fuzz knob and the guitars volume knob rolled back a bit though so the '69 is acting more as a dirty boost/gritty od.
klon>'69 sounds good too, but in this case you really only get 1 good setting on the '69 and that's with the fuzz full on. it makes for a real good lead tone

Listen to any early Black Crowes stuff starting at The Southern Harmoney and Musical Companion. NOT shake your money maker. Marc Ford became the lead guitarist-started with the band a week before this record began and that's the exact setup he had. Les Paul-> Marshall with a Klon and Fuzz Face. amazing tones there.
While this is my first post I'm not going to try to rain on your parade but....being a huge crowes fan and gear head....I'd like to know where you got your info.
Marc Ford used his Strat primarily on that album, especially on Remedy, No Speak No Slave, and Sting Me. He did use a Les Paul as well one with buckers and one with P90's.
For amps they primarily used Marshalls, Tweed Twins, Band Masters, etc @ that time. Marc did use a Fuzz but I have never head of the Klon being used. Rich Robinson was pretty much pedal free till the 3 snakes era.
I didn't even know the Klon was around in 1992.....the earliest production units from my knowledge were in 1995 (earliest review I can find written by Ken Fisher). Maybe they got a prototype unit....but...
I have never heard of the Klon in Crowes lore before....

Honey Bee>Klon= Pure heaven
..
Agreed
Sunface > Zendrive > Klon = heavenly secondary tone as Sunface rises.
The Honey Bee > Klon sound is the primary reason I can't abandon the Klon.

Gary Louris says he used a Klon into a Fuzz Face on one of the Jayhawks albums. Smile?
Google "Gary Louris gear" and you'll find it.
I used to have good success running a Dunlop RI FF into a FD2. I turned the volume all the way up on the FF and the distortion all the way down.
I set the FD2 kinda clean and it worked like a compressor.
Nice singing fuzz tone with a strat.

i used to try to run a sunface into a klon, and it sounded terrible. the thing about the klon is, it's got massive balls. it klon-ifies anything you try to mix it with. and the nice warmth of a klon on its own becomes transistory/fizzy sounding crappola when mixed with fuzzes or other overdrives.
that's actually why i sold the klon, it had to be off if i wanted any other gain sound. this required too much tap dancing. now tube screamers and big muffs, thats a nice combination...

Just tried sunface nkt275 into KTR... thought it sounded awesome.
Sunface was set volume at 1:00, Drive at Full
KTR was set Drive @ 1:00, Tone @ 11:00, volume at 12:00
I thought the KTR really set fire to the to Sunface (a sometimes hard to use pedal due its EQ). I hope to use this combo some more.

I loved my Sunface and Fulltone '69 into a Klon.
And I would say that in a band mix is pretty much mandatory.

yeah here's what you're doing wrong. the gain of the klon needs to be rolled all the way off. otherwise you're gonna get mushy bee city. i run mine after my hoof and it gives it balls and cuts out the fizz.

I just played through an ancient MXR D+ at rehearsal last night and I was completely blown away. I'm thinking about buying that one off him real cheap as he rarely uses it. Damn good dirt pedal! I'm wondering how that will stack with Timmy.
