Bought a quad of Sylvania JAN 6BQ5/EL84 Grey plates from Tejas Tubes. One pair was for my HC15 and the other for my Goodsell S17. They sound great in the GS and sounded good in the HC, but a hum started to gradually get louder. I quickly checked the tubes and they were starting to glow blue so I turned off the amp. Just to check I stuck them in the GS and they were fine.
Why do you think this happened. The HC came to me with Ruby's and I was under the impression that NOS tubes can handle more. Do these amps need rebiasing with tube changes? I thought they didn't.
