Are the Gold Lions a good brand compared to the other New tubes on the market today?

Yea, they are. They are not as good as the original Gold Lions, but that aside - yes.

Sound-wise I liked the EH as well. The best built is probably the SED, but I don't like the high-end sound as much. JJ is ok, but I found it to compress in a way that I did not like as much. I would just avoid anything Chinese.

Like all other power tubes from New Sensor (the parent company of Sovtek, EH, Tung Sol, Mullard and Gold Lion) be VERY careful of exceeding 450Volts on the plates. The history is abysmal.
