Man, his timing/phrasing :bow is second to none, IMNSHO. His tone - not clean enough for ya, Tag? :) - is simply awesome. If I can can conjure up a similar tone out of my - coming soon - Danocaster, I will be in Hog heaven.:D

Okay, I'll bite, its a pleasant enough sound but I'd don't understand what particularly makes it a great "telecaster" tone. More of a good single coil Fender into a mid-gain amp style tone.
When I think great classic Fender Tele tone, I think Steve Cropper and obviously Roy Buchanan. For a modernist example, I'd cite Jim Campilongo. They seem to exploit the actual sound generation possibilities of a tele far more than this, good playing though it is.

While most people prefer RF with buckers I like him on a tele by a long shot.He sounds more raw and direct with his phrasing.I never grow tired of hearing him play.

check out the concert at the "New Morning" (Paris, 2001). Great tones, equally good with tele and esprit, but the solo on "nothing to nobody" stands out. Amazing phrasing.
