Hi. My name is Charlie Gelber and I live in CT and work in NYC. I'm a TV director/editor/writer by day and a player of the blues and rock by night. I haven't played professionally in 30 years but I still play as much as possible. Some of you might recognize the user name from the LPF. I'm the guy who always has an ES 335 or 345 show off -or sell-or buy. The name refers to my quest for an actual 59 dot neck in red. I've owned 2 of them so far and neither was an actual 59. Rumor has it they exist but no one seems to have ever seen one. I had a very early 60 with a 59 neck profile but it had a 60 FON and no serial. The other turned out to be a 61. So the quest goes on. I'm also into tweed era amps (Champ/Deluxe/Harvard and a Gibson GA79RVT at the moment). Don't get me started on the ES 345/355 Varitone removal thing. Currently in the collection:
59 ES 345
65 ES 335 (renecked at Gibson with a Clapton Crossroads neck)
83 ES 335
85 ES 335 (Real PAFS!)
55 LP Goldtop
59 Jazzmaster (anodized guard)
03 Stratocaster CS
00 Breedlove D22
99 Taylor 655 12

Hi Charlie,

Another old guy from CT! I have also been looking for a 59! My price range is a bit lower as I have been looking at ES-125s, Silvertones, and Danos, but 59 was a great year for guitars of any make!

My son is a Communications Major at Fordham, where he also was a member of the men's soccer team, and he is very interested in Film. He also plays a bit of guitar!

Welcome!

Joe

Welcome Charlie! I am fairly new here myself.

I see a few are from CT. Right now I live in Florida, but hopefully soon I'll be getting back to CT. By the summer I hope!
I used to live in West Haven. Probably will wind up back there.

HEy Charlie, welcome to TGP.
I recognize you from the LPF.

Never heard of a red '59 335.
Closest I've seen is the Historic Cherry Red.
Sure would be interesting if there really are some out there.
