I read somewhere that these change your tone pretty heavil, is that so? I thought it was supposed to be very transparent. thanks, Bill

You CAN change your tone pretty heavily with it, depending on what you do to the tone and gain knobs but you'd have to work it to do so. IE adding or cutting a ton of treble or bass, and adding a bunch of gain. it's more about being transparent. To me, the TS sort of gives you more MORE of the amp you're using. It sounds radically different in front of each of my amps.

Any pedal with a tone knob can dramatically change your sound if you go crazy with it. What Mike said above has been my experience, the Tonesmuggler just gives you more of your amp's sound. Terrific low gain boost pedal!

I agree with the above 2 posts!
I actually find it quite transparent, and an excellent low gain drive pedal that is easily on par with other highly touted boxes.
