In 2007 I had the same problem, when I installed the Pro Tools, the problem fixed running the MacOsX 10.4.11 update and then, download the updates manually, but this time after the Security Update 2008-08, when the problem appears I tried everything I learned and nothing works, Digidesign or Apple don't give any solution… If anybody knows the solution I appreciate it.
PS: I read that someone log out to another user (with adm priviledges) and then logg in again in the main identity solves momentary this problem, I tried it too but only works 1 time…
