View Full Version : What do you use to publish fretboard/chord diagrams online?
I know that a lot of folks here publish instructional material online. I would like to be able to publish fretboard diagrams, chord diagrams and basic arrangements (rhythm patterns) + chord diagrams, interspersed with text.
Does anyone have any recommended software for doing this? Anything Open Source? For starters - I'd really like an easy way to put up fretboard diagrams.
Thanks a lot.

Some people on TGP use Microsoft Word Draw, or it's equivalent features in Excel.
You can do a lot with it, but to make things look the way I would like takes a lot of work (too much for me, anyway) with layers, etc.
I have yet to find a simple software program that lets me so chord, neck, and other diagrams -- and edit them as I want.
There are some additonal features in some of the TAB software if you want to spend the money. But, even then they are limited in the features I am interested in.
I'm still looking for something.

You guys might want to look into Finale or Sibelius for standard notation and Tab. Finale used to make Finale Guitar - don't know if they still do. They both do chord charts (and chord symbols), though customizing them is a lot of work (not bad once you learn the program).
You can do tab for alternate tunings, and it comes with libraries for bass, mandolin, banjo, etc. etc.
I use coreldraw for fretboard diagrams which once I got the basic symbols made, it was easy enough to drop dots on my blank fretboard diagrams.

I use Finale for all of the stuff on my site..its pretty expensive but I bought it when I was working on my book and needed the ability to do publishable notation....

...I use Excel's "graphics" symbols and then convert to *.GIF (smaller file size).
