I've been a part of this Forum for several years now. When I first chirped in, it was the PRS Forum. A smaller bunch and probably a much more inexperienced group of guitar players that were new to the modern technology of "forums" as we know them today.
Here is my concern, whine and complaint. My personal experience is that I am likely guilty of the following:
1. I think I am funny while others view it as serious and/or an attack on their opinion.
2. I think I am being attacked while others may just be trying to be funny.
As long as I am posting on the "best gear" type questions we seem to all get along. Here in the Lounge we don't so much, and thus its not as much fun.
Personally in 2009 I am going to make an effort to state my opinoin and not discount other views. And conversely, try not to take offense at those who strongly state the opposite.
I've really loved being a part of this Forum....can I hear an Amen in the crowd????:MMM:bow

Amen, brutha!!
Yeah I get into all kinds of trouble here when I am being, in my own estimation, a hilarious smart-ass. I seem to mostly read/post here late nights when I might (for whatever reasons) perhaps tend to act slightly less responsibly than during earlier hours. My pattern here is I get involved in some discussion of a potentially controversial nature, and (unintentionally) really piss someone off, or someone totally misconstrues my angle and runs rough-shod all over my sh*t in an (to me) illogical, unreasonable fashion. So, I say, "screw this crew!!", and disappear for a while. Then I'm back after a while, treading lightly at first, but eventually right back in the thick of it, slinging bon mots, and next thing ya know, trouble again! I have taken steps to combat this pitfall, the most effective being to fire off a cleverly caustic rebuttal, repleat with my best zingers and witicisms, then...without clicking "submit reply", just move on down the line. Gives me the satisfaction of composing my "oh yeah?!?!?", and saves everybody from being subjected to it. Another ploy is if I see a post by any particular pompous, blowhard, windbag who I have a history with (who, of course, excercising the utmost propriety, I will not name), I run away quick. Whatever I can do to keep hanging out here a mostly enjoyable experience for me and all'y'all, too! I dig TGP!

And here I thought I was going to have to go to cyber-rehab by myself. I 'm happy to hear you have had similar experience.
