So I was in the supermarket yesterday looking for eggs when I heard a jeff Beck solo jump out of the muzak speakers. I stood still, unable to move as I listened to the long solo on some new remake of "I want to know what love is". The hair on the back of my neck stood up. It's incredible that at his age he can still have that effect on me at my age (42) in the grocery store. does anyone know the artist? Was it Lou Gramm?

For my kids' middle school Christmas program just last month they told me there was something on it I would love but they wouldn't tell me what it was because they wanted it to be a surprise.

It was a ballet choreographed to Beck's "Angel (Footsteps)"

I almost cried.

A quick Google search show that Jeff Beck plays a solo on Wynonna's version of the Foreigner tune.

I thought you were going to state that you were upset that they were playing Jeff Beck at the supermarket. I hate it when they do that. I always feel older than I am (37). I heard one of my favorite Cure songs in Fry's the other day and although was happy to have a respite from whatever was playing before, was dreadfully aware that I'm getting no younger. I guess I'm vindicated by liking a lot of the music in GAP (tongue in cheek, MOSTLY a joke. Okay PARTIALLY a joke).

I've had those "you know you're getting old when..." moments. Who'd ever think that Jeff Beck would make Muzak in the supermarket.... when we thought stuff like "Led Zeppelin will never be played in elevators." Wrong. It's still good music, and timeless.

Fantastic.

I love it that Beck is so active lately...maybe he hears Angel Footsteps...facing one's mortality can set you free.

I can't remember which year winter olimpics it was but I kinda remember a female skater doing her solo routine to a Jeff Beck Song.....I think it might have been "Cause We've Enden as Lovers" or "Goodby Porkpie Hat"

I'll never forget the first time I heard a Jethro Tull tune covered by Muzak in an elevator. That was like 15 yrs ago.

What is funny about it, is that back in the day, Tull was considered "underground" music and didn't even get radio airplay except on select stations in the middle of the night.
