So LAST christmas I started building a strat for my Dad. Got the body done, painted even wet sanded and that was the last of it. It sat and waited for more funds (like everything else right!) and while he was waiting I lent him my surf green tele (http://www.pbase.com/dkauer744/image/100771549) I had finished in the mean time. Ya, Im a bad son, I did my own guitar before finishing his!

Anyways, my tele would go over for a while, then it was over for a long while then about 4 months ago was the last time I saw it. Dad came into work one morning and asked if I felt bad doing a tele instead of his strat first. Right, like 2 guitars instead of 1 is a problem!

So I grabbed a nice clean alder blank, ordered up a TMO-V (damnit I just like that profile to much) and got to work.

Here's where I ended up:

Dad playing after a busy day of wet sanding, buffing, wiring, ect ect.

Couple pics along the way. This is also the first time I've got to use my new buffer and I gotta tell you, thats the ONLY way to fly!

Dad hard at work buffing and doing a hand polish... drilling PG holes ect.

Fun day! I've got pictures of the entire day that I'll put up on my blog here soon (in my sig) to keep the bandwidth down here. But for now, were off to dinner and drinks at a place my buddies band is playing tonight. Maybe I'll make dad drag the old git' with us tonight!

-d

Oh, its only 14 months late for xmas! At least I finally got *my* guitar back LOL.

Absolutely! I was a little iffy on if I'd like Coral but now that it's done I'd be lying if I didn't admit I was jealous. Great color!

Yea I'm a HUGE fan of of the more "pastel" like colors, like coral and surf green. Man I'm jealous of this thing! haha

Do you mind telling where you get your logos?

Thanks

GK- I actually printed them myself. Its just the stuff you can buy to go through a laser jet. They are kind of think, I put quite a few coats on and you can just barely still see it.

Sorry got beer on my mind!

Took quite a few coats of lacquer to fully bury the decal. Maybe 6-7 (I spray with my nitro thinned by 1/2 though).

Thanks, I just need to find out what the font on my gkoelling amp is so I can duplicate it for a Tele headstock.

Well Im a fortunate son (don't start singing now). Its the family biz (www.kauerkreations.com) that lets me play like this. I mean don't get me wrong, I've been there 15 years and all but I learned what I know from him and the shop lets me play when I have the time.

Now, if the economy would turn again so we could finally add some staff back on I'd be able to "play" more :phones
