I have an old 1959 Anniversary single pickup, and am also negotiating to acquire a re-issue 6121-1959. Both have the mud switch.
I know I have seen discussion about different caps to get a more useable variation from these switches, but can't seem to trace them.
Does anyone have any positive suggestions or recommendations? I do not want to disable the switch, or put a tone pot in its place.
Thanks

I only use that switch for jazz, and I leave them stock.. I don't like it, just as the dead zone on an early Tele, I rewire the Teles, but I leave the Gretsches alone.

Nice for a polytone amp thing... chordal melody behind a soloist.

Pull the switch, and change caps until you find something useful.
