I got to see Chick with Steve Gadd and Christian McBride at the North Texas Jazz Festival in 05. Probably the best live show I've ever seen.

That was when I really started to get into Weckl, as for Elektrik Band...I prefer them with Fierabracci on bass and Weckl on drums.
Funnily enough those two just tore it up when I used them on my stuff. Was way cool to get to have the guys you listen to work with ya.
i much prefer the 2nd line-up of this band with gary novak on drums, jimmy earl on bass, and the always-killing mike miller on guitar. check this out:

Big fan of Weckl myself since the late '80's!

Best ever version of Electrik Band for me too! I love Earl, Novak, and Miller!!! Wish they'd record a trio album!!! To me, Chick sounds way at home with this line up...I never understood why he didn't continue with them for a couple more albums...

Pretty cool, love the Ibanez Gambale is playing. They showed a full Elektric Band concert on Norwegian TV about a year ago, really fun to see Gambale ripping on national television.

i agree. i actually emailed chick a while ago asking him if there are plans to continue with that band and he told me that he doesn't believe in repeating what had been done before (which is strange considering that he put the original band back together)

Saw Chick Corea Electrik Band on their first tour with Weckl and Pattitucci - phenomenally excellent.

Yeah, that first tour (of the first Electrik Band) was pretty scary. I like the II band too, but some of the ensemble stuff the I band did was herculean, and insanely tight given the crazy timing and overall difficulty.
Not many folks who could pull off a lot of it given 40 takes in a studio, and I saw two shows where they missed virtually nothing onstage. I've got the DVD of the reunion tour, which is still amazing, but not quite as tight as the early 90s tours, IMO.
Thanks for posting all of it, both bands are serious outfits.

Saw them with Weckl and Pattitucci on one of their tours, too.
Great musicians, great playing, just awesome sound... horrendously boring concert. Just a bunch of flails and scales imho.
Then about 10 years later, I saw Chick touring with the "Bud Powell tribute" band at Wolf Trap. Best music I ever heard live.
imho, Chick should stick with acoustic piano, on which he is a true master...

I saw the Electrik Band in an early incarnation, must have been 1986, when Scott Henderson was the guitarist, Weckl on drums and Pattitucci on bass. First time I ever saw a computer on stage - Chick had an old white Mac classic sitting on one of his keyboards.
Ever see this video? Must have been done for MTV. It's pretty hilarious and silly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zikTA3dYOKQ

Reminded me a bit of DiMeola's "Scenario" album with Jan Hammer, sort of Miami Vice-ish;)
