So today I decided to open up the chassis of my Champ 12 and install a speaker jack and a footswich jack.

For the speaker jack, my plan was to just cut the speaker wires about 4" from the board and solder them to a mono 1/4" jack which I would then mount on the inside of the chassis through the hole where the speaker wire used to go through. The white wire would be soldered to the jack, allowing it to make contact with the 'tip' of the 1/4" plug that goes to the speaker while the black wire would be soldered to the jack, allowing it to make contact with the 'ring' of the 1/4" plug that goes to the speaker. This configuration would also mean that the black wire would be grounded to the chassis. Will this configuration lead to any 'issues' such as:

1.) Electrical current being sent to places it should not be sent to (i.e. me).
2.) Unwanted noise.
3.) _____________ <insert bad repercussion here>.

For the footswitch, I was going to pretty much do the same thing, except mount the jack inside the chassis through the hole where the F/S cable used to go through. This time, the white wire of the footswich cable would be coming into contact with the ground of the chassis.

Again, any repercussions to this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Should be fine.
