I'm looking to buy an Oscilloscope, signal generator and dummy load to tune up my amps and I am wondering what recommendations of brand and type you might have?? :D

Are you buying new? used? what's your budget?
For oscilloscope, you can't go wrong with Tektronix. For signal generator, HP/Agilent is probably the way to go. But really - highly depends on your budget.

I have a TEK 422.............for me it's perfect.

TEK 453 is very popular, so is the 463...but they're too big IMO. All the same functionality in have the size = 422. It was "State of the art" c. 1968....

I think I'd rather have an old(er) solud-state TEK than anything made today.

In this matter, ebay can be your friend.

Yeah, you really need to post your budget.

The only strong opinion I'll throw out now is that, *especially* if you're a beginner, you want a scope that WORKS PROPERLY and that you *know* it works properly. Features or a big name aren't worth much if there's a sketchy spot on an attenuator or one of 100 other things that will have you chasing your tail. Also know that on most used scopes (especially nicer stuff like used Tektronix, etc), almost any repair at all will exceed the initial cost of the scope or possibly exceed the value of the instrument entirely. So the "it just needs a _____" argument rarely applies here. You want one that works perfectly and needs nothing and IMO it's worth the extra money to get that.

Need budgets and what you wanna do with it.
